Don't worry, be happy. It happend also in 2001 and 1987. The years between 1987 and 2001 Ajax won (and a single draw?)

We've beaten Brondby!

Last appearance for Escude i hope.

Bad defense?

Escude? Did he have a bad game or was he injured so badly. I think Grygera is the weakest link of our current back four

What...?

Yeah, and Sparta Rotterdam are going to win the league. And Chelsea will get relegated in England. FC Thun will win the Champions League. And Armenia will win the 2006 World Cup.

Come on man. Gimme a break. Grygera has been absolutely flawless for well over a year now. He was 'Man of the Match' last Wednesday and the team captain in the second half today. He was perfect defensively and dangerous in the air upfront. All at the same time. Even today he had a good game.

Tssss.

Grygera has absolutely nothing to prove. His qualities are beyond dispute.

We didn't seem to hold possesion too much, but it is still early days in the league and everything can change around.

He had a bad season last year, but the opponents were not good enough to really show that. This season he is obviously the weakest link. the second goal from Kuijt was a direct failure of Escude who failed to defend Kalou properly. Grygera gave him support, but Kalou managed to pass the ball to Kuijt. If Escude just won his duel with Kalou there was nothing wrong. But Escude is seriously weak in 1-on-1 duels.

Feyenoord is bad, and if you don't count Kalou and Kuijt they are relegation material. So the only thing that we had to do today was knocking out their offense, which we didn't. Feyenoord had a tactic that said: let Escude have the ball and let him do something stupid, which he a few times did.

He has been replaced two times in three matches. Blind said on the radio that he didn't want to say the names of players who failed today, but he did mention Escude for being "not to well"......

1-2, and I was really tempted to go when Pizza 5 said there might be room in the car...just as well I stayed home really. I phoned De Hems this morning to see if they were showing the game, they said they were so I got on the train up to central London only to find that they don't have Talpa - they did have it on Dutch radio through the satellite TV but that was a bit boring as I don't speak enough Dutch....anyway, I'll catch the "highlights" I'm sure on Eurosport tonight and will wait till Thursday for on Channel 5 for a full inquest. :nooo:

Roll on next weekend !!

For the record: there seems to be some miscommunication here: Ayman was talking about Grygera, whereas you are talking about Escudé...

I though Grygera was flawless, powerful and resolute as usual today (Emanuelson won the 'MotM' title, but if you ask me it was Grygera again, just like against Brøndby).

I also like Julien Escudé, but there is no denial: he looked absolutely terrible when Kalou squeezed past him and gave the assist for the 0-2. That one was pretty much Escudé's fault: he had the ball, but allowed Kalou to slip past him and steal it straight from his boot.

By the way: the way Kuyt scored... that chance was almost identical to the chance Rosenberg had in the first half. There's the difference for you. That's the whole story.

so can anyone explain why Ajax needed to sign Juanfran?

Because he wasn't chosen MotM because he played exceptionally well. He was chosen because he was one of the few who played with some incentive.

I agree with Ko...Gryg is a good footballer, however his display against F*word was pretty bad...actually the back 4 was really bad in the first half...how bad was the marking with the first goal???

This is something we will be killed for in the Champions League. It improved dramatically in the 2nd half (especially Eman & Trabs).

On a slightly different area of the pitch (yes I know he scored the goal - and it was a good finish), but Charis shouldn't be playing for ajax. One goal wont change my mind that he just doesn't fit in to the team...I am happy to be proved wrong at the end of the season by the way :)

Well let's do the autopsy....

Central defence: fragile...incisive strikers WILL get through, and players of K & K's ability don't need many openings...4 chances = 2 goals.

LB/RB: played well.

Midfield: failed to adequately impose themselves and failed to create openings for the attackers. Fword's midfield/defence were surprisingly well organised and cut out virtually all dribbles and through balls, leaving Ajax no choice but to pump in crosses from the wings (I'll say it again...Ajax have never, and will never be able to cross the ball).

Wingers: Babel/Pinaar are not true wingers, never will be.

Rosenberg: Shockingly poor (as he was against Bronby).

Subs: Rosalez was ineffective to put it mildly, Christeas needed quality crosses (see above for details), but was still an improvement on Rosenberg.

Oh well....at least it's early in the season.......

Ajax should stop putting guys in wrong position and fufil their talent in the position theyre made for. And Vonk..TALK MAN! Knowing the defence is risky he should yell at them.

I would use:

Vonk (stekelenburg is injured)
Trabelsi
Heitinga
Grygera
De Jong

Pienaar
Maduro
Sneijder

De Ridder (give this guy a chance man)
Babel
Rosales (not a bad left winger)

Emanuelson + Escude + Lindenbergh makes 3.

Not that I'm unhappy that Ajax has signed a quality player mind you. I'm just annoyed that once again an excellent player from the youth system will be left rotting in the reserves.
