Im sorry I disagree Stek is the man....he is following the footsteps of Van der Sar...who was not great when Ajax won the CL cup back in 1995, but got better as he grew older. So I would be upset if this was the case, but highly unlikely...as Stek renewed his contract till 2010.

Well I like Stek so I hope he doesn't go - he is already improving and becomming more dependable.

I do agree that we shouldn't turn down any silly money though and I have to say, these days contracts don't mean jack...(other than making sure that a transfer fee is paid/recieved when a player moves on)

That is Stekks main problem he's like a Frank De Boer at Golie. Solid in most ocasions but will always commit some clumsy mistake in a game. It's up too the opposing team to capitalise on it. If he had done that mistake last year Ajax would have trown in the towel.

Thank god this time around things are diferent.

Apparently Gentenaar will be given a chance ahead of Stekelenburg, according to a friend of mine.

Bloody great game at Heracles Almelo.

I am, generally, not a Stekelenburg fan, but I have to admit: he was Ajax's best on Sunday. Flawless when it came to the 'ordinary' things and he had a few outstanding saves in a phase in which Ajax could have collapsed.

Yeah, he was the only pleasant surprise in an otherwise crap Holland team.

The most dangerous moments in the second half were actually for Romania (a few low shots on target) and Stekelenburg saved them well.

Van der Sar returns to the squad for wednesday match against slovenia, so Steks can nestle on the bench :D

Stekelenburg was replaced by Dennis Gentenaar yesterday evening because of a back injury he had picked up. It is as yet unknown how serious it is.

I suppose Gentenaar can't be blamed for Sparta's second goal... F*cking hell... What a cracker.
