Many years ago, when Ajax was a still a great team, I traveled from Cali to the Arena for a Champions League game against some Italian team. Ajax dominated the game from end to end, but the Italians had some long-haired Argentinian who scored two goals on the counter. That felt undeserved, and it seemed cruel, but I don't believe it. You get what you deserve, in football if in nothing else. Ajax have looked very good at times, but they have not scored. The Spartak goalkeeper looks amazing, but Ajax have helped him by shooting within his reach.

I don't get it. We need goals so we put on our most defensive midfielder.

I understand yanking Ebecilio; he'd lost the plot. But De Jong is simply not a striker. The only player we have who is even close to that is Cvitanich, yet he can't get a sniff of the pitch. What the fuck?

Don't know. If the game plays out like today and if we bring our scoring boots along, then why not?

Can't agree. No way did we deserve to lose. A tie would have been a travesty, much less this.

The reality is that what a team deserves has nothing to do with the outcome. Sometimes... shit just happens.
