It's not De Jong's fault to the extent that he's playing out of position, but at the moment he's a bit of an embarrassment. Didn't see much of the second half given that my wife insisted I fixed her Email without delay, but everytime I did watch, De Jong seemed to be missing a guilt-edged opportunity.

Generally in the first half Ajax looked pretty good, definite signs of a recovery of form and that old-fashioned Ajax elan.

De Jong played a solid match. His finishing is not all that, but he played simple and held up the ball pretty well.

from what we are all saying here, we need a De Jong/ El Hamdaoui combination... is it possible??? they cant fit both as along as eriksen is that good

Wouldn't be surprised if El Hamdaoui gets a place on the bench.

I have just read an interview with de Boer and he sees Moonie as a left winger or as a 'different option' up front, so that probably means backup for Suarez and rotation with Siem.

I like the look of de Jong up front, he holds it well and links play well, just give him to Bergkamp for some 1 on 1 training and he'll improve his other areas.

I posted last year that I thought de Jong was always a striker in disguise and only needed to work on his finishing to lock down a starting place. I still think so. He's been playing the attacking mid for so long he really hasn't had the opportunity to see what he can do. He does hold the ball up better than anyone we have had in a long time and he's also one of our better players in the air (a number of goals last season were headers). We'll see what Frank has in store for him.

If De Boer can fix this for 2 games, he must stay as a coach.
As for the game today, we should dun the job in the fisrt halft, but generaly i'm prety happry

luuk is more of a striker currently than siem. but that could change

good game expecially the first half we should have scored more goals . Impressed with de Boer so far.
