A soft second for them , not sure whether the guy was off side(yes looking at the replay) but Toby was looking at the flag and let him go. Until then we were the better side. Well we now have to hope that Auxerre lose in Milan , likely, and at home to Madrid. If we lose our 2 games and they get a point thats it for Europa Cup .

If you let in a goal like Ajax just did, you should be very quiet, hang your head, and pray very hard that sports tv stations around the world will have mercy.

Just got back home and it's probably a good thing that I missed the second half. I probably would have destroyed my computer monitor. Jol needs to do something about the midfield. Either park everyone on defense and play catenaccio or sit Enoh and/or Lindgren and put someone in who can pass the damn ball.. They cannot connect a pass to save their lives (based on the first half which I saw).

I have to say: good second half. We were quite unfortunate, if only because their second goal should have been disallowed (off-side).

I thought offside as well but the channel I was on didn't show a good replay. I also thought it wasn't a foul in the first place. Annoying that we dominate for the 70 minutes between their first and our equaliser, then let them straight back in.

Looked offside to me but apparently Greg put him on. I still think he was off but at least not as bad as Super Phippo! I think those quick free kicks when near the net are one step up from cheating. We did not deserve the full 3 points but we did not deserve to lose either. I think we are done. Europa, here we come!

I was in Auxerre, with the Ajax fans. The atmosphere in the city was dreadful, riot policemen all over the place.
clearly, we played a very poor first half : bad coaching with Suarez on the right flank. But the second was good. Auxerre's second goal was clearly off side as seen on tv.

Was the guy(s) with the bull horn as annoying at the game as they were on TV?

Am I the only one who's thinking that Ajax should start sounding out managers for next summer? Jol helped us get out of our rut, but he's witless when playing big games.

I would also like to see Blind tried out in place of Anita. Anita on the other hand should be tried out at DM. We have absolutely zero creativity in our mid field. Also, Suarez comes in way too much and brings his defenders along with him to the center of the field.

You are not alone. I assume that Jol is a decent enough trainer during practice but he has no tactical clue at how to manage a match. As much as I despair of a manager switch, I think it is needed.

I mean we'll have had the same manager for 2 years which is a first since Koeman. So things are a little settled team-wise - which is good. But, we have been tactically inept at the bigger stages. A lot of our goals have been unplanned. The ball somehow finds it's way from defense to the forwards and they manage to score. But, we consistently fail in getting the ball to the forwards. There's no bigger picture/plan at all.

We are getting a great bunch of youngsters in the next 2-3 years. Let us please have someone with brains who can help us.
