well it should have been a lot easier but Auxerre were poor and physical even when playing 10 men . I was very nervous for that last 10mins but we won and hopefully will be 3rd in the group. I would be very unhappy if that bunch of hackers finished above us.

Did anyone else think the pass to the player Oojier pulled down was off side? It was hard to tell on my computer screen.

All or nothing in a couple of weeks in Auxerre.... If we win we might go through the group phase... The question is: WILL IT BE BEST FOR US TO CONTINUE IN CL ??

Yep, I thought the two goals stood as very isolated random incidents. We were really poor throughout the game, gave the ball away much too often, played without self-confidence or elan.

Bear in mind we scraped a win at home against a team that has a very high chance of being relegated from Ligue 1 this season, and who were without two (or arguably three) of their key players.

Too bad the referee gave a red card for no reason to Ooijer. There was no foul. Unlucky Andre, hope he will be available for the Milan game.
Even when down to 10 men we overplayed them.

Ajax are obviously much better than Auxerre. It’s clear that Real will remain on top of this group, while Auxerre might find themselves with zero point in six games. The closest sides are Ajax and AC Milan : we will fight for the second place.

I thought we played well (unlike some on here apparently) although we didn't create many openings.
Showed particular character when down to 10 men.

Auxerre were awful though..........

De Zeuw said afterwards in a TV interview that he was frustrated he didn't get more passes as he found himself isolated "between the lines", and could have taken advantage of that.

De Zeeuw finally had a good game and not just because he scored a stunner of a goal.

He tackled well, he passed well, he did loads of good work. Especially in the first half.

This is good news, cos I really started to wonder what in heaven's name was wrong with him. He was arguably the worst Ajax player of the season, so far.
