I'm out of town visiting friends and did not see the match. Just read the match report and it sounds like we came out totally flat. What gives here? Is it the manager not getting the players ready to play?

Jol is patrially to blame - he told before the game something about Utrecht being tired cause they played Thursday in Europa League thus giving Ajax 2 more days of rest. Generally team was too relaxed, probably they thought that Utrecht is an easy opponent after playing Milan.

We had no concentration, no ball control, no decent shots. Sulejmani did lots of running, dribbling but failed to produce anything.

Just an observation when we wanted to bring on some attacking subs all we have are 2 young kids Eriksen is an attacking midfielder and Jozefzoon is just out the youth team . Last season we would have had Rommendahl coming on . We do seem to have lost out on experience with Rommendahl and Pantelic going ! We have left ourselves with no real cover in attack as Bodul and Suk are still only reserve standard and so is Jozefzoon. I know Suarez had an off day today but goodness knows what we would do if he was out for a couple of months.

Hope Mido is soon match fit as he could do a good job as sub .

Meant to post earlier it was good to see Evander Sno fit at the start of the game . I understand he is soon back in training and Bristol City have indicated they may take him in January .About the only positive thing to say about Ajax today.

you are right SPL. If El H gets an awfula game like today, we should have a striker ready. Hopefully Mido might be the answer. Plus Demy is still in no mans land

This lackluster approach to a game was never part of the Ajax culture, until recent years. The winning mentality that always identified Ajax is gone.
