Our man saw his first minutes of competitive action since the World Cup last night, with Young Ajax, in Eindhoven, against Young PSV. They lost (2-1), but Lodeiro did well, reportedly. He looked fit.

In case you forgot: he broke a footbone (a metatarsel or something) during the World Cup in South Africa.

Nicolas Lodeiro's father died today . He will travel with the national team on a Uruguayan airforce plane to the city of Paysandú for his funeral.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Nicolas and his family and friends .

He will be in the starting eleven tomorrow in Uruguay's debut in the Copa America against Peru, Luis Suarez will also start.

I hope Frank will be watching the game and start making his own evaluation of how Lodeiro can (or not) fit in Ajax. He will be playing exactly Eriksen's position, since uruguay play a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 that mirros ajax formation. Tabarez also likes to switch it up and have them form in a 4-4-2 which may mean that Lodeiro has to play as a left midfielder, which is also an option for him in Ajax, as winger down that flank.

I have always wanted to see Lodeiro play as a right winger like Messi used to at Barcelona, his skill and control cutting in n his left would be great. I know that Sulejmani does pretty much the same thing now but it can't hurt to have quality competition for your spot.

Ajax connection in the first half of Uruguay vs Peru...Lodeiro to Suarez ties the game up at 1. Not a good performance from Lodeiro thus far. He has drifted in and out of the match, but notches an assist on Suarez's goal. Let's see how he does in the second half.

AHH you beat me to it!! Nice through pass from Lodeiro. Obviously "matador" like finishing by Suarez too. Lodeiro wasn't particularly impressive, sometimes a very erratic, but was quick and intelligent asisting Siarez to tie the game.

As I said previously, in the couple of matches I watched him in, he made a number of impressive through passes. That seems to be his strong point.
