Man Atouba is getting skinned all too easily...

I thought we started a bit slow but gradually built up the pressure in the last twenty minutes or so until we got a well-deserved goal. SK Slovan was playing with eleven men not just in their own half, but in their own defensive third. It was always going to be tough to beat that kind of bunkering defense. Fortunately we have Luis, who is always up for a challenge.

I thought Enoh looked good, as did Rommedahl and Suarez. I can see why Jol rates Atouba because he is obviously a tremendous athlete, but boy does he need to screw his head on straight. I thought he got better but that first few minutes was a bit of an adventure when he got the ball, wasn't it?

All in all, I think we shook off the post-PSV hangover. I'd like to see us net two more in the second half.

He tried to get fancy with the ball out wide in his own defensive third and lost it, leading to a breakaway and shot that barely missed wide. And then he tried it again a few minutes later.

The good news is that the striker who took the shot got hurt on the play and had to be subbed out. So maybe Atouba knew what he was doing after all.

fun fact of the day: as someone could have noticed, oleguer who was called for this game is not on the bench. and kennedy, who wasn't, was called last minute in his place.
maybe a sign that the spanish is leaving, at the end.

Once he settled down I thought he was ok. But it's hard to tell because the opposition aren't particularly good.

We need to stay focused and not give up any silly free kicks. I don't think this team can score from the run of play.
