Luis no...
Vermeer just pulled off a good double save impressive against Fiorentina and now doing ok today.
So im guessing we'll have Leo, Kennedy and Sulejmani up front next game, who is that against btw? Ooh could stick Urby up there too.

You may not like the way Vermeer distributes the ball, but in the Fiorentina game and this one he has come up with some really critical saves. IMO he is sharper than Steks (at this point at least.)

Yes, he's been a classy shot stopper.
Vermaelen has been excellent.
Utrecht fans are classy. NOT.

Yup totally agree, Steks has not been great since his return. Kenneth was excellent against Fiorentina

Den Haag away. I hope Cvitanich will be fit until then.

This team can be frustrating to watch.
Vertonghen for his negative play and Vermaelen for his tendency to kick the ball into no man's land.

Looks like a tendon in the back of the thigh snapped. What rotten luck (for him and Ajax). The defense was finally starting to look like something. I wonder what will happen now.

I actually don't understand why MvB prefers Kennedy instead of Sarpong.

Yes, but Vermaelen was superb in defense today. I remember the days when our outside defenders couldn't stop an old one-legged lady. I'm ok with him hoofing it into space if he keeps shutting opposing players down.
Anyway, decent win. Utrecht never looked sharp, and our defense looked pretty good. Not much continuity on offense, though.

Vertonghen played in the middle today, so i think Shilder, Urby, Aissati or Gabri will take his place.

Gabri is injured I think.
Great game today over=all but it did get frustrating to watch at times.
I think Vermeer was excellent overall.
Good three points this

Great work navigating the banana skin against FC Shin Kicker. Sorry for Vertonghen, but Ajax will shoulder on. At least we've the likes of Gabri or Aissati.

Good win today, Vermeer played well . Bad luck for Vertonghen it does not look good. I still do not know why Kennedy gets on in place of Sarpong!!
With Suarez banned next week hopefully Cvitanich will be match fit( reserve game tomorrow)

Excellent win. Very well done. Very convincing.
I thought Ajax played really well in the first half hour. The first goal was a truly superb attack. One of the best and most intelligent we've seen this season. Could have been 0-2 or 0-3 after 30 minutes.
After that Ajax leaned back a bit and I have to say they were very mature, very well organized and absolutely never got into trouble. This had to do with Utrecht (must've been one of the most tepid Utrecht sides I've ever seen in a home game against Ajax), but also with Ajax: they were flawless. Defenders did well. All of 'em.
Less than three days after the Fiorentina battle... Utrecht away... This is a very good achievement and a step forward when it comes to 'maturity'. Well done.
The only bad news: Vertonghen. Hamstring injury looked very bad. He will probably out for six weeks at least.
My 'Man of the Match': Thomas Vermaelen. Very tough and absolutely flawless.

Agree on Vermailen with Vermeer a close second because of the saves. Vertonghen's injury is really not good for us because of his ability to play on the back line as well as midfield. Wielaert is cup tied and now we are going to scramble for the central defense. It would be a shame if we have to move Vermaelen inside and maybe young Toby Alderwiereld will see some significant playing time.

Highlights!

Check the beauty of that first goal. Possibly the best we've scored this season (talking about the
attack, the build-up, not the actual finish).
