I agree Lodeiro looks like a good signing. Does he join now or in the summer?

He should be available from february, 1st.

I must admit I am pretty convinced by the work that Jol and the board are doing in order to develop (and renew) this team. we have 25 players, plus the babies eriksen, castillion, zeegelaar and suk.
the final part of the job, if not in january, is to be done in the summer, when we'll get rid of the following (I think)

ogararu
wielaert
oleguer
lindgren
kennedy or rommedahl (I would prefer keeping the 2nd but his contract is expiring)
and maybe atouba and/or even gabri

in order to put definitively in the A-team the youngsters, among which:
eriksen
castillion
zeegelaar
suk
blind and/or v der heiden
plus a good central defender

six leaving, six coming in the first team. 25 players. nice.

Found an answer to my own question from De Telegraaf. Lodeiro's contract starts Feb 1, so he'll for sure miss the cup game against NEC and the following league match against the cockroaches.

yeah. I know he is rated. like ebecilio and bonevacia, also. but I don't know if he'll make it already next year!
I hope so, 'cause is growing up a team which is finally feeded by our youth system, and I would love it.

MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay — Uruguayan club Nacional said Friday it has sold midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro to Ajax for four million euros (C$6 million) in what club president Ricardo Alarcon called a historic deal.

Alarcon on the club Web site that Nacional would receive 15 per cent of any future sale of the 20-year-old midfielder.

Lodeiro is an up-and-coming South American star. He was a key member of Uruguay's team at last year's Under-20 World Cup in Egypt. He was called up late in 2009 to the Uruguay national team and is expected to be on the side at this year's World Cup in South Africa.

"Nacional reached an agreement with a Europen giant, face to face, respecting our demands and those of the player," Alarcon said. "It's a landmark. It's something historic."

Alarcon has been in the Netherlands the last several days and also had talks with AZ Alkmaar, the defending Dutch champion.

Alarcon said he'd hoped to keep Lodeiro with Nacional through the first half of the year, making him available to play in South America's prestigious club championship, the Copa Libertadores. But Ajax and Lodeiro wanted the move to be immediate, Alarcon said.

Hello everyone,

I only write once or twice a year, but i always read this section of ajaxtalk.

Today i've read in hungarian newspapers and online sites, that a hungarian striker Gergely Rudolf is in talks with Ajax for a contract. He arrived to Amsterdam yesterday, and start talks about a contract.
His contract expires on the summer this year, but referring to hungarian sources, Ajax are willing to pay 7-800k € for him to get him in the wintertime. He is a left-footed striker, has great shot, but he is not that young, he turns 25 nearly.
I just don't get it. Ajax claimed that they are signing only young players, maybe only it's a rumour, but who knows.
What do you say dear Ajax fans about this?

I say we don't need this guy. We have Pantelic and Suk for this season, next season Suk and Castillion.

That's what i say..
But.. needless to say, i would be very happy if Ajax would have an another hungarian player.. it's been a long time...

Also, i could watch every Ajax game live on tv, and should not have to work with sopcast anymore...

Get him for as low as possible, and who knows? He is better than Suk and Castillion at the moment , for sure.

But on the other side: why would we need him?

We have better players , even Sulejmani is better than him i think so..

He can play as central or left sided striker...

alot of sites show Braafheid is signing tomorrow. We need a proper left back.

This Rudolf guy was reported to have signed for Genoa but that is not now certain. We were asked to pay 350000 euros for a player who only has 5 months of a contract left and we are not going to pay that amount.

Interesting if true. I was always skeptical that he would be an everyday player with Bayern. He's a good player and will solve our problems at that position for some time to come.

I think they said on the Dutch zone that Jol denied this after today's game (some Ajax players have to leave first).

Not sure Edson Braafheid gets a regular game in Glasgow, but he will get the chance to play with Glenn Loovens in a side that is starting to lose sight of Rangers.

We appear to have missed out on Boulahrouz because we could not afford to pay 450000euros.Not sure of the details so perhaps a dutch speaker can fill us in .

It may be we needed to sell one or two players .

of course he wouldnt be a second atouba because atouba is doing us a favor by being unfit to play

you say that, but we dont have anyone better at left back really.. i think Atouba is better left back than Urby, atleast Atouba has a solid tackle

Probably should give Atouba another chance but of the 3 I think Anita is the best defender , and he is not remotely good enough. Urby cannot defend. (Watching the Fword goal again in slow mo Urby clearly at fault.) The way Atouba played v PSV I was not aware he was a defender.He looked as good as Colin.

As I said 2 weeks ago when NAC turned up Robbie Schilder is certainly better than either of our 3 left backs.

Mind come the summer we will need a left back and right back if VdWiel goes and even Vertonghen may go. He is not that much worse than Vermaelen .That leaves Alderweireld with Anita as cover plus Blind will be back as cover.

We will need to sign several defenders as Wielaert Oleguer and Ogararu will go and imo non of the current Jong defeders will make it . ( Boilesen is an A1 youth at present)
