It did say we will bring in adefender if Oleguer or Ogarau both unlikely. Eduardo is an 18 year old Brazilian and Dervite is a Spurs reserve.An unknown kid and a reserve !!!!!!!!!

I just heard from sky news - in italy the transfer market has just closed - that ajax has obtained from internazionale the brazilian offensive midfielder/winger kerlon, known also as "foquinha"
considered one of the best young talents in brasil, has been injured from two years but this summer inter offered kerlon a contract anyway until 2012 in order to recover him. all this stuff sounds very strange to me, I don't believe it and I would not be too excited, although he was very promising he would need too much time to be competitive again. I am curious to see if it's true.

Huh? Just the defender we need

The following post was made in the Dutch 'reliable' transfer news topic:

Ik ben nieuw hier en zal maar meteen zeggen waarom... Ik heb een familielid die werkzaam is bij het VU Medisch Centrum. Al ruim 3 jaar hoor ik van deze persoon wanneer er weer een 'nieuwe Ajax speler' medisch is gekeurd op de afdeling waar deze persoon werkzaam is. Vaak weet ik dus al (soms 1 of 2 dagen van te voren) wie Ajax' nieuwe aanwinst is.... Ik volg deze site al een tijdje en dacht, laat ik maar even mijn kennis delen ;-)! Vandaag zijn namelijk de volgende spelers medisch gekeurd: Pantelic (geen verassing), ene Souza (kunnen er heel wat zijn, maar ik gok op een jong Braziliaans talent. En tot slot Araujo (meen dat hij Pato Araujo heet, is laatst namelijk ook een gerucht over geweest... Tot zover mijn bijdrage ;-), mocht ik weer wat weten (voor jullie dat doen) zal ik het wederom laten weten!

I know Kerlon is not a defender... but... if we really sign him, I would be happy... he might show some tricks off which makes people crazy about ajax again... hopefully...

But if we sign 3 players tonight it would be a big surprise, but also a nice sign to improve the squad..

pato can play DM, but he is a natural center back... he was the backline leader and captain when mexico won the U17WC, and is considered a huge talent in mexico

in other words, this would be a great flippin pick-up

just going by what was posted previous to mine.

Maybe we will all be pleasantly surprised by the end of the day tomorrow! Players that we didn't even thing were on the radar screen get signed, sealed and delivered.

You won't have to, De Telegraaf also reports it's Ze Eduardo, the brazilian. He has agreed a 5-year contract.

okay, that araujo IS a defensive midfielder, he is 18, has 10 brazil u-20 caps and would not cost a fee as he is out of contract, so it's a nice signing for the future...

but he is not a center back, which is what we need right now

EDIT: reports from mexico still insist we are signing pato araujo, say we've been after him since july... is it possible we grab two araujos in one day?

Pantelic is an experienced and deadly striker, nothing has to do with Luque i guess... he may earn as much as he did, but i do think he might be actually a better player than the spaniard is...strong, physical striker... what we needed!
we'll see of course...

About Kerlon : he has nothing to do with Leonardo either , except they are brazilians both...
Leonardo is older , and never had the potential as Kerlon has..., and nobody talked about him in football world.. yes, they both had major injuries, thats common...
But in fact, Kerlon is still a potential next Ronaldinho, while Leonardo already reached his potential, which is about an average player's skill.

The defender: if we sign that brazilian u21 player, i would be happy.. he is a big talent, and finally we sign a young player, who could turn out to be a next maxwell, chivu, ibrahimovic, whatever....
But.. of course you are right because we needed a strong, experienced , international-class defender... there are no left in this transfer window i guess... (still , Juhasz is available.... bollocks we didnt even look at him..:( )

Bit depressing observation by Ko. We're signing two of Brazil's biggest talents (and we're not even paying for one of them yet!)and a Serbian bloke whom is praised by just about everybody that has ever seen him play. Now all we need is a central defender and we're doing quite good.

That's a bit extreme. Both of these guys cost nearly nothing. They may produce as well as Leonardo and Luque (which would be great if they score us some important goals in Europe the way Leo did) or they be even better. But for the cost, there is no doubt that they were good signings.

I'm pleased that Ajax has finally started trying to sign cheap foreign talent rather than plumb the depths of the eredivisie in search of some overpaid washout (only to have the team we just bought the guy from turn around and find some gem at half the price).

Pantelic is costing us nothing in transfer and if after 1 year we do not want him he is free. Luque was the worst signing every made by this club in terms of money spent . Plus we are still sharing his wages .

i will wait to see who else we sign and then see what you all think. My knowledge of young Brazilains or Mexicans is poor .

We still need a quality defender so lets see.

the people on the chivas guadalajara boards are still talking as if pato araujo is off to us... man, i sure do hope we get him, that would be some capper to this final 24 hours!!!
