Just saw a note over on ESPN Soccernet that The Daily Mail in England are reporting that Newcastle are readying a £7M bid for Siem de Jong. Probably just a rumor but interesting if true.

That's probably about £2M more than he's worth. I guess they didn't learn their lesson after Anita. In fact, I'd be willing to knock a couple million off the asking price if they return Anita to us.

@aveslacker - I pretty much agree and if the offer is made I hope the club accepts it. It would certainly improve our midfield play.

Well, I personally think he's been one of our better players for the last two seasons. I know that's not a popular opinion on this forum but I'd be sorry to see him go. He's not flashy and he's not an out-and-out goal scorer but he's a good team player. Plus, his profile is starting to improve: he's featured on the guardian...

We are at our best with Siem as a shadow-striker, behind a real number 9. Hope he stays.

Dutch sites say its £9m ie 11m euros. Thats alot of money and we should take it .Mind we should possibly spend it on Maher.

also meant to point out the article states Siem is happy to run down his contract and leave on a free. Where on earth they get this from I do not know he has a contract to June 2015.

@SPL - quite right about the 'price' ESPN had it wrong probably was a typo on their site.

The curse of the Ajax captain's armband strikes again. For that money, Ajax should sell and bring in a more dynamic midfielder.

Maher has said in the Dutch press he wants to go to PSV...

Benfica may want Sulejmani but the bad news is in the summer for free. I think this lad will just stay with us until June when he walks on a free. Was reading the other day he is on 1.8m euros pa. but wanted a new contract of 2.5m euros pa.

Rennes and Mallorca want Enoh on loan but Ajax would prefer to sell him. Russian and Ukraine sides want him also.

There has been no interest in Sulejmani .

Vermeer linked to be Valdes' successor. Mohamed Moallim report. Plus a few words from some Mundo Deportivo idiot: "Ajax's philosophy is the same as Barça's." As if they invented the game...

@souras - interesting if true about Vermeer and Barca. Even though he cannot kick he only would face about 2-3 shots a game playing there and he's a good enough shot blocker to make a difference (and much better than Valdes). Unfortunately, he's so poor at crosses I cannot see him being a #1 there as that's always the chief danger.

All the kicking he would have to do would be to pass it to the nearest defender. Even he can make a 20 yard square pass.

Vermeer has improved this season and is a superb shot stopper but cannot kick a ball or take crosses. For the Dutch with Steks losing his way in Roma Vorm and Krul are still rated better than Vermeer. I really cannot see Barca going for him.

Fulham want Enoh today. Nothing on Sulejmani .

Although mainly loans we have done well in culling the senior and Jong squads this month . Fringe Jong players have been loaned out and those like Ebecilio and Bonevacia are gone.Enoh too is unlikely to return. The Russian transfer market runs through February so maybe some club over there can do us a favour and take Sulejmani!!

Could not find Cristian poulsen blog, so i´ll write it here. Toulouse want him in the summer. if it´s true we should sell him and try blind as defensive midfield as boilesen hopefully will be fit again..

Lukoki and Sana both indicating they will leave in the summer. Have to say Sana started ok but soon faded away and Lukoki
is just very quick with little skills like crossing a ball for instance.

Cannot believe we cannot get better than these 2 although the only winger in the Jong Ajax de Sa has been reduced to sub behind the above 2 recently.

I've seen a lot of talk here lately about Alderweireld going to Liverpool.. remains to be seen, but he has said he wont go to a "midtable" club, which to me, is what liverpool are.. at best.
