Its not THAT bad, stek is decent, and vermeer is good back up if not the other way around. vd wiel is looking promising, oleguer is alright when needed, vertonghen is good there, atouba is a bit un-known for now, but i think he will do well, wielaert although i hate him can do a job, alderweireld is looking to be promising, and same for blind, urby is alright, but better in mid i think.

So really one more defender and its not looking so bad, but dont forget to add silva or ogararu in that there as i would imagine were keeping one if not both.

There are a lot worse defences in the league right now, and as for our midfield and front line, probably one of the best in the league if not the best

Madrid accepted a bid from Stuttgart for KJH so I'm guessing he's going to leave Spain for some club.....I know he wouldn;t come back....but...

When Jol was at Spurs he signed a boat load of average midfielders. Their entire squad was basically midfielders.

Yeah, I think in his last months at the club he was regularly playing midfielders in defense and attack. He had bought way too many of them, and most of them weren't really that good. He's a bit of a Koeman, gets off to a good start but doesn't have much of a long term plan. And I he's a bit of a waffler/bluffer as well.

So I guess what I'm saying is, don't put me down as a fan.

face it, guys: this IS based on jol

we were after the likes of onyewu and obradovic, and we got atouba, who he says he wants to play in midfield, then we are going after more midfielders while the backline holes go unattended... it's not a good start

maybe, but if you look on the Ajax.nl site on the new squad numbers it comments on Atouba "the new left back" having number 7, so maybe he will play at the back just strangely with #7

32 players. this squad is defintely too crowded. we have to sell or loan at least six, seven players (and field at least still one: a defender or a striker? I'll pray for both but I dont'think it's gonna happen)

Seriously, we do need to off load at least five if not more of those on this roster. It's too unmanageable as is. I would rather keep Kennedy than Rommedahl as he is much better on the ball and does cross quite well.

apparently Messi was in Amsterdam today, but he didnt like the kebabs so hes stopping in spain,

but agreed id prefer to keep kennedy than dennis

The problem is that some of our players are mediocre at best and they are getting very high salaries. I am guessing that many of these guys would not want to work for a lower salary elsewhere even if there was interest for them. Reminds me of Bogarde at Chelsea.

The only Honda I want Ajax to do business with is the car company. That way we can get a loan and pay off the dead wood on our roster.
