FC Haarlem?

From the thread of the same name:

Thanks
Ko will probably close this thread shortly, but I'll have a stab at it before he gets around to it. I'll also cross post this in the "Grab Bag" thread, which is where this would be sent anyway.

As far as I know the only Americans playing in Holland are:

Damarcus Fucking Beasley, PSV
Cory Gibbs, 010
Charles Kazlauskas, NEC
John O'Brien, ADO Den Haag X'C

I'm not aware of any others, although some of the posters on this board (Bluedaddy, Astabooty, Blind) might know a little more.

here is a nice story from serie A (calcio) :

Sunday's meeting of these two Roman sides - who between them have mustered a terrific one victory in the last two-and-a-half months - was billed in the capital as the Derby of Fear. Frightening it certainly turned out to be; the kick-off saw Roma's stand-in captain Antonio Cassano stun Lazio with a crafty flick to release Mancini, who fired on goal - only for Angelo Peruzzi to tip it wide. And that was it. Twenty-three seconds in, the only shot of the entire match. Roma and Lazio spent the entire remaining 89 minutes and 37 seconds (plus stoppage time) huffing and puffing but doing absolutely nothing to win the game, as the clock wound down and the fans wound up. It finished with the teams' sharing the points after a scoreless draw.
Not surprisingly, the 70,000 crowd - who'd turned up expecting a real derby, like the 3-1 back in January - took a dim view of this, uniting as the second half wore on in chants of 'Idiots! Idiots!', 'What are we doing here?' and 'Can this game be suspended too?'. Eventually Lazio's Curva Nord (whose banner midweek at training had read 'there are two ways to return from battle; with your enemies head or without your own') simply turned their backs on the spectacle en masse.
Was it a fix? Roma manager Bruno Conti admitted it was the ugliest derby he'd ever seen, but flatly denied any collusion. Lazio's Viking style warrior Paolo di Canio said he was 'bitterly hurt' by the idea, explaining; "I can't agree anything with my friends, let alone the Romanisti!" In truth, the game probably started out for real but with both sides incapable of winning of late and both terrified of defeat, it sure looked like a tacit deal was struck. Monday's Gazzetta offers an interesting set of pictures in which, shortly after halftime, Cassano talks to his Roma team-mates with his hand over his mouth to prevent lip-reading. Hand still in place, he then relays a message to Fabio Liverani of Lazio.
Deal or no, anyone who thought a point would be enough for Roma was in for a shock when the afternoon's other results came through: Brescia's win at Bologna and Chievo's surprise upset of Siena mean the Giallorossi finished closer than ever to the drop, just three points now from the bottom three.

Man, that is awesome. I would love nothing more than to see Roma get dropped into Serie B. Bunch of wankers.

Me too, and then maybe Chivu could get a new club. He deserves better than this.

I was wondering when you'd bring this up. Not much to say though, you we're the better team, and the DIF players played like p*ssies the second half. If you could only get a forward you might even make it to the top 5 this year. ;)

I'm not a Brit, but I'm following the Lions (we get the Test and midweek matches on my satellite).

Is there a more mind-crushingly tedious sport in the world, than rugby?

Well OK yes there is, golf, synchronised-swimming, and ice-dancing.

But is there a duller team-sport?

NO!

Only basketball pushes it close.

Actually, Basketbal is rather amusing. Baseball, now that is one fucking tedious affair. American Football has its moments, but those are rare.

Basketball sucks. Well, NBA basketball, anyway. College basketball is ok.

The thing about Basketballl is that it all happens in the last minute.

Forget the first 47, just watch the last sixty seconds, and you'l know the whole story.

I used to be a big Timberwolves fan, and tried to get to at least one game a seaon, but after a few years it all starts to wear a little thin.

Compared to Dressage or Yachting, Curling is the definitive definition of excitement.

Having lived next to one of the world's larger outdoor Horse Shows for years(Devon,PA), I will attest to the boredom and nauseating fashion sense among the Horsey set. But, to this day, I've never seen so many UBER HOT babes worthy of taking my mind off a yawn-fest as at a Horse Show, including Dressage. The eye-poppingpalooza-like tongue-wagathon is exceeded only by my trip to Buenos Aires or trips to Amsterdam, NYC, or LA. :xyxthumbs:
