Terrible results today. PSV and Twente can now focus on the league, and no more coefficient points for NL.

apparently PSV are in deep financial shit. if i understand correctly, the club is talking to the city to sell the stadium and the grounds.

The highlights:

1. The club will have negative equity of 5-10 million after the season.
2. Good chance they won't be able to pay their creditors.
3. They are indeed looking to sell the stadium and land.
4. It's not clear what Philips might do about it.
5. Could be 20 layoffs at the club.
6. Have lost 40 million on players over the past 12 years.
7. If no CL footy, they're doomed.

They play 3 of the last 4 away, including trips to an improved Feyenoord and Groningen.

Not so sure about Groningen as they lost to Vitesse today.

Only three more games left to play. To get our third star, we have to hope that fayenuts will take points against Philips. Doesn't look too good. But not impossible though

Twente play quite poorly but still manage to win 2-1 on a goal by de Jong in the final five minutes. Something must be wrong with Ruiz as he looks quite poor. he doesn't have the same pace as he did last year (maybe the knee injury) and gave away the ball quite often. Still 3 points is three points and it was always going to come down to the final match day in the Arena. ADO had some opportunities but could not convert and were the more convincing team on the night.

Goodbye 2nd place. ADO was our hope. I don't think we can beat Twente in the last day, if the title is at stake. The team is too young :aai.gif:

It's not over until it's over and every team has to play them one at a time. Of our last eight matches we are 6-1-1; PSV is 4-3-1; Twente is 4-3-1 (not counting today's match). So despite our play we are currently in the best form of the top three. Sure we have needed the chips to fall our way after losing to ADO but there is a chance for the third star. I don't want to hear any more groaning until we are mathematically eliminated which if we win out can only happen on the last match day. FORZA AJAX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :smile-ajax.gif:

i was at the ADO-twente match, and they were rather fortunate to not lose, to be honest... i would swear their first goal was offside, their keeper made several big plays and the winning goal had a bit of luck to it as well

i think, right now, the key is to keep them from playing wide too much while stretching them wide at the other end... bajrami, ruiz and chadli are the ones driving them to the finish line, aside from janssen the middle of the park is not providing much... in defense, both the wingbacks are beatable and foul-prone

I had a real good internet feed on Friday and watched the whole match. I agree with you and also think their central defenders are not playing as well as earlier in the season. Basic problem is a decent starting 11 that have been worn down by all the extra matches they played this year with little depth to cover. I think our wingers will keep their fullbacks pinned in the back and it will be difficult for them to create an advantage in the midfield against us. Our big problem, as usual, will be getting the quick goal that will put them on their back heels.

So, which "B" do you think will play left back -- Boilesin or Blind? I really like what I have seen of Boilesin so far.

I suspect it will be Blind. Wisgerhof seems like more of a defensive liability than Blind.

1 game left in the first division and RKC lead by 2 points from Zwolle who were top until last week.

At the bottom financial penalties and penalty point deductions are likely to settle the issue with Almere possibly safe as RBC were deducted 3 points today .

Almere drew with Sittard last game and appeared to be heading for bottom spot until RBC's penalty points today

Sittard 26 points but only lost 2 penalty ppoints
Almere 25 points lost 6 penalty points
RBC 23 points lost 3 penalty points.

I looked up about the non league teams and what happens with promotion . There is a Saturday and Sunday league and the top 2 play off . The top team comes into the league if it has applied for promotion . Oss, who were demoted out the league last year are going to top the Sunday league and a
team called Ijsselmeervogels from Spakenburg ( about 20 miles due East of Amsterdam for the record)
will top the Saturday league. They do not want promotion but I read that the team just below them want promotion and they are Spakenburg from the same little town.

To sum up who ever is bottom will survive if Ijsselmeervogels wins the non league playoffs

Think Oss have to win the playoff in order for Almere to be confirmed as demoted.

Sorry I have misled you and have re-read the rules and if Oss win their league ,which is almost certain, they will be back in the league in place of Almere.
The Saturday and Sunday non league champs do have a play off but it does not matter who wins that.If the playoff winners do not want promotion but the runners up do then the runners up get promoted thus Oss are almost certain to replace Almere.

Oss lost yesterday and although they are 3points clear at the top they play the second place team next week in the final game so Almere could still be saved.

There was a bit of talk previously about the financial pressure on PSV. Today's results would appear to be catastrophic for them.

They closed the season LDWLWD while Ajax went WWWWWW. A 10 point difference.

Does anyone know who gets the Europa league spot from the KNVB Beker?

Twente were the winners but they get CL from the Eredivisie.
Ajax were the runners-up but we get CL.
That leaves Utrecht and RKC as semi-finallists in the cup, so who gets the spot?

Re: Other Eredivisie Teams

Due to the fact that NL is in 10th position in the UEFA coefficient table for next season, it gets 2 CL spots (group and non-champion 3rd qualifying round) and 3 EL spots (cup winner in 4th round, one spot in 3rd round, one spot in 2nd round) for a total of 5 spots (whereas this year it had 6 spots). Ajax and Twente are in CL and then PSV, AZ, and playoff winner in EL. Since the "cup winner" would get the place furthest along in the EL, technically PSV got the "cup winner" spot = 4th round, AZ the 3rd round, and the winner of the playoff will get the 2nd round. So, in the bizzaro world where Vitesse won the cup, they would have gotten the 4th round, PSV the 3rd round, and the playoff would now be AZ, Groningen, Roda JC, and ADO Den Haag. Heracles would be out.
