Ajax to step in and sign Pranjic?

Croatian media reports that Pranjic could sign for Ajax as Bayern nad Hrenveen can not agree on a transfer fee - Bayern will not pay more then 6, Her. want at least 7 mil. Danny Blind was at Herenveen staduim this morning trying to arrange transfer as 7 mil is not a proble for Ajax after selling Vermaelen for 13.

I really hope this will go through cause Pranjic is much better then Elia in my opinion. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I hope they both stay away from Ajax.

i would absolutely jump at the chance to sign pranjic for 7M for several reasons

- he's got heart
- he's consistent as hell
- he can rejuvenate mickey
- he can play four positions
- he wants to play here
- it wont be long before someone offers 10+ for him if he matches his h'veen play at AJAX
- and erm, we didn't give him away for free no so long ago... that stuff rankles

I'm sure they will all move on to other big name clubs in Europe. But I was wondering about Ruud van Nistlerooij, he's getting on a bit, and very injury prone as we know, but might he not work out for Ajax in the autumnal days of his career?

I doubt Ruud would be interested in coming to Ajax. More important and reading in between the lines of the story is what will Madrid get for all these players? I think every other club has seen the bank loan story and the fact that Madrid is caught between a rock and a hard place in terms of having to raise money. I full expect all the offers to be on the low side as they know Madrid must sell and really don't have any control over the transfer price offered. Interesting times.

Damien Duff is stuck at Newcastle if Ajax are interested in an old-school 4-3-3 left forward. I think he'd be brilliant for Ajax. He wasted his career playing left back for Newcastle. He was brilliant as a left winger at Chelsea. I don't understand why NUFC paid all this money for one of the best left forwards in the Premier League and then stuck him at left back... that kind of stupidity explains why they are where they are...

Royston Drenthe looks set to leave Real Madrid this summer and he will have plenty of clubs to choose from...

Ajax are set to make a late move for Royston Drenthe to challenge Fiorentina for his signature after Martin Jol identified the Real Madrid flop as a primary target.

Los Merengues have allegedly made it clear that all their Dutch stars can leave and that has seen the rumour mill hit overdrive as they have been linked with various clubs, according to Sportsweek.

But as the dust settles, teams are now starting to make their moves and while la Fiore have enquired about Drenthe they are no longer the only runners as Ajax are also ken.

Drenthe joined Madrid two seasons ago from Feyenoord when many pundits said that he was too young to making such a big move and hoped that he could be lent back to the Dutch club.

Instead he was moved to the Spanish capital and struggled to settle into the culture or the team. Thus he has been rumoured to be on the verge of being moved on by the club for the past 12 months.

Premier League clubs are also prepared to join the chase, but Jol believes that the 22-year-old can be tempted to go back to the Netherlands to rebuild his confidence and reputation.

Panathinaikos' coach Henk ten Cate is also ready to offer Drenthe a way out of Madrid, but it is believed that the player has no intention of going to Greece

I hear rumors we've upped our bid for Elia to 9 million euros. I thought we'd learned our lesson by now. Apparently not.

ummm yes, we do need another center forward, can't go the whole season with just one as we learned the hard way in january

Media in NL are saying Ajax tried to pursuade Arsenal to give up Bendtner in the Vermaelen deal.

Ajax supposedly also tried with Boulahrouz, Schaars and Braafheid. Last one ofcourse is true, the others we don't really know.

I thought Sulejmani was a center forward ; as opposed to the player who Ajax feels should toil on left wing . Also, Cvitanich and Bodul play cf. Maybe my math is screwed up, but that's 3 players. Unless one, two, or all three are not to be retained.

well, i don't rate sulejmani as a center forward, he's best when he has a passing option and doesn't do so great with the hold up work - he did just fine on the left wing with heerenveen when they used wingers

bodul has done absolutely nothing in the eredivisie, so i do not count him yet

and cvitanich is one, though certainly not the biggest forward ever

we do need one big forward, i think, and we surely saw what happened when cvitanich was hurt or banned after huntelaar left... bodul was certainly no help, and the #9 work all went to suarez (who wasn't bad at all, but we need him stirring the drink)

Berg's agent and FC Groningen deny that there's been any contact with Ajax whatsoever, by the way.

We're gonna have to 'play the game' with Mr Nijland again if we want him.

Screw both Nijland and Munsterman. And screw Ajax for putting themselves in the position of going hat in hand to the two assholes after having dirt kicked in their faces on previous occasions. I'll check back on this thread in a week or two to see if there's been any progress.

I've been told that this article says that the Berg transfer is a done deal.
