This is what he had to say today - "By the way, I want to clear up that Roman Abramovich is not involved in this deal, although he is a friend of mine."
Ok that's interesting. The ESPN commentators on Sunday were talking about the financial state at the club and how the "weakened" squad (that we conceded two goals to) was in fact their strongest squad and that they were only hoping for Eredivisie survival - I suspect that this changes all that......

PSV has lost 1-0 to Sibir in their Europa League qualifier game. :biggrin.gif: :biggrin.gif: :biggrin.gif: :biggrin.gif:

Sibir has only 9 points after 17 games in Russian Premier League.

.. I think it might have to do something with their 3000 mile trek for the away game.

PSV will do better at home, but still. If they don't qualify for the Europa League they will be in big trouble since they probably included it in their budget...sell Toivonen and Afellay and finish 5th or so after looking so good in the first couple games. Toivonen is going to be hounded by England since hes not only good, but big, strong, and powerful as well.

I hope PSV make it into Europe . Especially if we get thru. More matches for their squad.

Yup, one of the longer road trips a Euro team will have to make. Would have been good to get a draw but understandable given the circumstances. I think they'll come through at home.

Sparta Rotterdam beat Almere City by the score of 12-1 today, thereby equalling Ajax's 1972 record in Dutch professional football (12-1 against Vitesse).

12-1. Wow.

And Voskamp scored 8 goals that day.

Correct. Amazing, but not a record: Feyenoord's Henk Schouten scored nine goals in one game, back in the 11th century or something. :ajaxsmiley.gif:

More Eredivisie trivia: goal number 50,000 since the start of the Eredivisie back in 1956 was scored yesterday evening and the scorer was... Mounir El Hamdaoui! His second goal against Roda JC Kerkrade, in the 72nd minute, was the one. The very first Eredivisie goal was scored on 02 September 1956 by Tonny van der Linden for DOS (predecessor of FC Utrecht).

I notice in the Juplier league that the so called new team from the non league Hardenberg did not in the end come into the league . With Haarlem going bankrupt Oss were relegated out the league to be replaced by a non league team .

So can someone explain what happened to the new team . Very unfair on Oss, kicking them out the league and thus they go part time.

The Jupiler League was reduced to 18 teams because of the new Topklasse. Originally 2 teams were to be relegated. Haarlem’s demise reduced that to 1; if Veendam had gone bankrupt too, FC Oss would have been saved from the drop. Hardenburg and 30 other clubs from the Hoofdklasse join them in the 2 Topklasse leagues. Follow SE6Ajacied’s link in the Grab Bag for more details.

There will be promotion and relegation between Topklasse and Jupiler League, so FC Oss have the chance to get back. But I would prefer to see AFC, Amsterdam’s topklasse team, promoted - twice. All the great football cities have a local derby, so it’s time Amsterdam had one again.

Lol, can I stake a claim to fame that I've already seen this one, In the ArenA as well a few years back (2005?) as part of the open day. Don't remember the score but even though it was free to get in there weren't that many people there.

I'll definitely take in an AFC home game in the Topklasse every once in a while. Should be good.

PSV beat Sirin 5-0 in eindhoven. Well all take it as good news, since they'll have a busier schedule, hope it takes a toll on their team. Let's cross our fingers so the farmers accumulate some serious mileage in the Europa League.

All the Dutch teams in the Europa League progress except for guess who? Yup, our friends down the road in Rotterdam again could not seal the deal and go out to KAA Gent 1-2 on aggregate.

We could have told Celtic: it's never that hard to beat Utrecht on your own soil, but they can be a particularly tough nut to crack at the Galgenwaard...

Oh well, too late now...

They got what they deserved. They let Twente walk over them in one of the final games of the season, so that we wouldn't take the lead. This is what karma is all about.

I don't think karma has to do anything with Feye. They are just crap for the last hmmmmm..... let's say some years. Why should they become better this particular year? They are just crap. :confused.gif:

AZ got a nice group with 3 ex-USSR clubs including Dynamo Kiev. Will be interesting to see how they play.

I don't know if having 3 ex-ussr teams qualifies as having a "nice group". It probably means more time spent travelling.

ADO Den Haag just equalized for the second time against PSV: 2-2.

Seven or eight minutes left to play!
