Our former €6M striker, El Hamdoui put five in the back of the net as Fiorentina won an exhibition match 11-0. Never heard of the team they played; was likely a lower division or maybe even an amateur side. That being said, five goals is five goals.

Remarkable: Ismail Aissati's deal with Vitesse has fallen through. He was already training and stuff, but he is reportedly not happy with Vitesse's offer. Deal is off, he is now hoping for a Spanish club.
All of this ain't nothing to do with Ajax: his contract expired on 30 June. He is a free man.

Wonderful goal from Lodeiro in the Olympic opener for Uruguay to put them up 2-1 against UAE. He came on as a second half sub and has looked quite good.

Wow. A very sad story . Sorry for the herky jerky nature of the text. Had to run it through a translator.

Just tuned in the Tottenham -- Newcastle game. Anita and Vertonghen both start on the bench for their respectve teams. I suppose they can count their money in between picking splinters out of their ass.

Don't forget the real blast from the past, Van der Vaart also on the bench for Spurs. Anita did warm up when looked like Tiote might not be able to continue but he sat back down. As long as Tiote stays healthy, he starts ahead of Anita in the midfield.

I think he moved to the US last year as he often stated he would like to live here.

Just saw the MOTD highlights of Chelsea Vs Newcastle and have to say Anita was poor. He looked overwhelmed and gave away a penalty to top it off.
Another one who left too early.
I also have to say Vertonghen didn't really account himself too well in Spurs' game on the weekend. During the equaliser by WBA, he was wrestled over in the penalty area. During the game he failed to really stamp it with hi authority.
It would seem the learning curve for both of them are going to be high this season.
But I have to say Michael Laudrup is doing bloody fabulously as a coach! 2 games in, 2nd, 8 goals scored (Michu) , none conceded (What about Vorm!!) If they won their 3rd game even 1-0, his Swanselona boys would be top!!

I saw the whole match and Anita was not as bad as the highlights probably showed him to be. He's still adjusting to the EPL and he didn't have Tiote beside him as he did the previous week.

18 year old left winger Gyliano V Velzen who left us 2 years ago to take Man U 's money has joined Antwerp on loan for the season. We did not think he was that special and did not offer him a contract .Since leaving us he barely featured at Dutch Int youth level which suggests he is nothing special.Yet another Dutch kid who takes the english money at 16 never to be heard of again.

I don't know if Anita is going to make it in the EPL. He made two good plays in the Chelsea game -- one where he tracked back with super speed to close down Torres on a breakaway; and one pinpoint cross field pass to release a winger to start a Newcastle counterattack. Other than that he looked pretty much lost for the entire rest of the game. Maybe he will be able to adjust as time goes on, but in this game he looked like a little boy trying to play with the men.

Hardly surprising. Very sad, though.

Jeffrey Sarpong has been loaned out to Spanish 2nd div club Alicante by Sociedad who do not want him. Another of our old kids Nigel de Jong is off to Milan and V d Vaart could be going back to Hamburg

Found this on Ajax Life (translated) :
Ajax will benefit from transfers De Jong, Van der Vaart
That educating youth own lucrative, Ajax knows all too well and it appears today once more. Ajax will be sharing in the profits of the transfers from Nigel de Jong and Rafael van der Vaart. A conservative estimate is about 700,000.

Both our former captains have massive games in England today. Suarez with a hat trick and Vertonghen a goal and resolute defending as Spurs beat ManU at Old Trafford in the first time in a lot of years! Vertonghen was at left fullback and had a great slalom run through the ManU defense for the opening goal.
