You should be. I had a brief chat with (commercial director) Van Der Aat after the Sparta game, and he told me that, as soon as a bigger club comes in for a player, there is nothing you can do to stop it. I'd be laughing at something that ridiculous if it wouldn't have been our harsh reality (utter morons like this running the club).

Bojan has reinterated a few times that he is staying at Barca. However, with talk of bringing in some big name strikers there, he may not have much choice. He is also linked wit a loan with a French Club, Marsaille I think.

vdV, here, not happening. He is going to Chelski or back to Germany apparently.

Only way Cvitanich will step up is if you get him a ladder! Sulejmani is packing his bags with Suarez.

We are evidently in for Edson Braafheid, the Twente left back. What do you think about him ????????? If we sign him and Vermaelen stays who would go as we have Oleguer Wielaert Vertonghen and Alderweireld all centre backs.

If Arsenal do indeed sweep in for Vermaelen, then we'll lose him.

I'm not quite optimistic about Braafheid, he's like the Wielaert, Kennnedy type. Amazing for clubs like Twente, but don't quite make it at the top level. Maybe I'm making hasty judgement, but I think we should find someone with more quality and potential.

I'm inclined to agree - I don't know that much about Braafheid, but I always tend to think younger is better, in terms of (potential, at least) bang for the buck, and in terms of our ability to hang onto these guys for as long as possible (assuming, of course, we decide they're worth hanging onto ).

In the article I read, they said Braafheid has a 2M Euro release clause (although denied by the Twente chairmain). For that price, I'm a bit up in the air. He's a different type of player than Vermaelen, who he might replace, but that's not really a lot of money to pay for him considering.

At this point, to me it's just a good sign we're looking to buy defenders rather than attacking players. I still want two central defenders that will just stay back and act thuggish, I think that's what we need.

If Vermaelen goes, Ajax will probably go for oth Braafheid and Obradovic. At least, that seems to be the case if you believe the rumours.

Vermaelen is a decent player but I don't think that Wenger will pay anything near what Ajax is asking for him. Ajax seems to want 12-15 million for him and I would not be surprised if Arsenal only wants to pay 5 million or so for him. On top of that, Jol does not seem to be too eager to sell him so I don't think that Vermaelen will be going to Arsenal.

Yes Gordon i agree I want 2 centre backs. Personally I think Wielart is just another Verlaat, and should be off on loan to a mediocre team in germany perhaps. I want Djibril Sankoh from Groningen, he looks solid. Another defender, which I doubt Ajax would beable to sign, would be Joris Mathijsen, I mean, my only hope is Martin Jol as a coach can entice him on, say a 3 year contract. As for the attacking positions, well I still think we need 2 or 3 reinforcements. Marcus Berg as a striker, Roy Beerens (can play left and right wing), and I was hoping for Pranjic, but I doubt he will come, as he set his sights on the premiership.

Have we all of a sudden forgotten how to scout leagues other than the eredivisie ? Has everybody forgotten where Zlatan,Trabelsi,Grygera,Maxwell,Chivu came from ? The last time we had success was with a crop of players that came from outside the netherlands combined with the players from our youth system ( VDV,VAn der Meyde,Sneijder,Heitinga etc etc etc...have we just forgotten that there is talent in other places ????? Christ.

While I'm not a huge VoH fan, I don't think he'd be an entirely bad addition. He's big and proved he can score goals. And while I think he'd probably look better against the competition in the Eredivisie, I'm not sure he'd want to come back here, or to Ajax.

Yeah, I think we'll have to see how the roster plays out as there are definitely quite a few that will go or be sold. If said it before, though, buy defenders not strikers. Scoring goals hasn't been our problem, it's been conceding them. Agree that Sulejmani shouldn't be on the wing, so if anything another winger might be a worthwhile purchase, however I thought Jol wasn't set on 4-4-3 (which I think is a good thing), so I'd think we'd be better off with even another midfielder over a striker.

The Eredivisie giants are keen to add a forward to their squad...

According to a report in Gazeta Sporturilor, Eredivisie giants Ajax are closely monitoring the situation of talented youngster Sabrin Sburlea. The attacker currently plays for Brasov.

Ajax are eager to add some depth to their squad up front due to the injury proneness of Argentinean forward Dario Cvitanich. Furthermore, Ajax had high expectations of former Heerenveen youngster Darko Bodul, however, the explosive striker is having trouble breaking into the first team.

Therefore, the Amsterdam outfit have made signing a new attacker one of their primary summer targets.

Sburlea's current team have reportedly set a €2 million asking price for the 20-year-old. Ajax face stiff competition from Club Brugge, Birmingham City and Dinamo Bucharest if the report is accurate.

Can't see this happening somehow and seeing that it comes from the Scottish Sun I'll take several pinches of salt with that story - sounds like a serious case of lazy journalism to me. I think he's a good player though and certainly different to anyone else we've got - not sure I would see him as an Ajax type player though.

One good thing if we do sign him though, seeing as Ajax charge one price and not by the letter for replica kit names he'd certainly be good value in the club shop (20 letters - count em )

i agree fully about the scottish sun... then again, jol was checking out VofH while at hamburg

as for being an AJAX type, he surely is if we will play 4-3-3; if we change to the 4-4-2 diamond, then he is surely not

I agree. IMO, a strong, big forward is just what Ajax needs (and has been lacking) in order to bring out the best in Suarez and Sulejmani.
