Actually according to the new rules, they will be able to play in the CL for another team if we don't make it to the group phase.

Suarez will only leave if Ajax need the cash and for a team where "real football is played" (Read: Barca?).

Rare to hear a player speak with such passion about his club.

Suarez told NUsport: "Ajax's financial position is the only reason I'm even thinking of a transfer.

"But if I leave Ajax, I will go to a club where 'real football is played'.

"I have never asked for a transfer. If I felt I was finished here I would say that but I don't.

"I can achieve what I want here. We must win the (domestic) championship and do something in the Champions League. I would give anything for Ajax. I would have no problem with playing for this club for many years to come."

Suarez has recently become a father and that is also a major factor in his eagerness to remain in Amsterdam.

"My wife Sofia has said she prefers to stay here with the baby," he said.

"If the baby was older it would be easier to move but now is not the time for big changes.

"It is perhaps too early to say but Ajax seems a good club with which to finish my career."

A 23-year old player talking like that. Gotta love the guy. Never thought I'd think of Suarez in the same sentence as Sjaak Swart...

According to reports, Ajax in this last day of the transfer campaign would still like to loan some players: namely blind, bodul, donald and sno. willem II is interested in suk.
don't know if any of these moves goes through, but I would definitely like a sligthly slimmer squad

Of that list I'd like Bodul and Sno to LEAVE permanently.

I think Suk, Donald and Blind might be useful if loaned out for another season. One year playing regularly and they may be first 18.

Deadline is midnight but no loans . Blind did not go to Groningen as they wanted an option to buy .

Unless we are still doing deals Bodul Donald and Blind will be stuck in the Jong until Christmas. Surely
we should have sorted loans out a week ago after all we will pay all their wages. Blind and Donald are in the Dutch U21 squad surely we can get clubs to take them . They will learn nothing unless they are playing first team football.

The club have done very well in getting rid of lot of fringe players who are on big salaries. Nothing we can do about Atouba who is injured but the only spare player left on a big salary is Sno.There was a rumour we tried to exchange him with de Ridder at Wigan . Shame . I cannot believe he will be happy training with the Jong and hopefully not getting too many games with them .

He would not get a game with our Jong if I were picking the the team.Bringing through Sneijder Bouy and Bonevacia are far more important .

Both have said they will stay to the end of the season and I certainly do not see Ajax selling Steks before Vermeer is fit . Vertonghen has also said he will stay the season because of his girlfriend 's work.

Steks has said he will turn down Arsenal as Man U are interested and if we ask 15m euros plus for each player Arsenal will not pay such fees. If Wenger wants any Ajax players I would imagine they are
our 15 year olds!!

ManU chief, Alex Ferguson, was in Spain yesterday (and missed their Carling Cup match) scouting David De Gea, Athletico Madrid's 19 year old keeper. I reckon he will come a lot cheaper than Steks.

I think you will find that Sir Alex was in Spain looking over Valencia wrt their Champions League game this week. I think he's pretty fixed in his head Steks is his next goalie and will break any bank for him.

Watched the goals in the Arsenal game , Almunia would not get a game in our reserves he let in 2 soft goals. Arsenal wont pay more than £10m for a player so Steks and Vertonghen wont be going there.
Steks though has to be one of the best around and must be heading for a rich club .

Agree. I think Steks has matured into one of the top five keepers in the world. After what he did against Madrid (which was a total shooting gallery) and the saves he has come up with in the league competition he's shown his value. I remember about 18 months ago NT fans were wanting van der Sar to come out of retirement. Turns out we didn't need him. I hope he gets the payday he deserves.

According to two reports on Goal.com, Steks doesnt want a new extension on his contract and doesnt even want to discuss it, and Sevilla are keeping close tabs on el hamdaoui

According to what I read, he doesn't want to move until the summer -- so at least we have him for the rest of this season.
