Rockstar INXS....man you must be desperate....you should check out the new channel called Paint Drying. Oh, also look for the Watching Grass Grow channel.
I was thinking of Pink Floyd, who had Syd Barrett, then Roger Waters and then David Gilmour as their frontman, but in their case the 'new frontmen' were already in the band.ajaxshark schreef:The two you named are about it.
Dont blame me...its the off season ;)ajaxshark schreef:Rockstar INXS....man you must be desperate....
Thanks for the tip, but season 3 of Paint drying hasnt been as good as season 1 or 2, and watching grass grow got boring once the original cast got replaced. :xyxthumbs:ajaxshark schreef:you should check out the new channel called Paint Drying. Oh, also look for the Watching Grass Grow channel.
Didn't they add Chris Cornell and become Audioslave?ajaxshark schreef:Funny stuff, it is the off season...Rage Against the Machine was another that tried to move on...didn't quite work out though.
What about Marillion, Faith No More, Genesis? All had their frontman replaced but were still majorly successful.Kowalczyk schreef:I was thinking of Pink Floyd, who had Syd Barrett, then Roger Waters and then David Gilmour as their frontman, but in their case the 'new frontmen' were already in the band.ajaxshark schreef:The two you named are about it.

Good point. Faith No More were one of my fav bands. How did I forget that???Raymon schreef:What about Marillion, Faith No More, Genesis? All had their frontman replaced but were still majorly successful.
I think it is pre-Collins Genesis (when Peter Gabriel was the lead singer) that people are referring to. They were, IMO, better than when Collins fronted them, although also quite good with Collins as a frontman.ajaxshark schreef:Maybe because i'm american and heavily influenced by radio play, but i would have to disagree. Marillion, i've never even heard of those cats from day one. Genesis after Collins...crap. Early Faith No More...good. Later...crap. I'm really not all that hardcore into music though, so what do i know.
The best part of Genesis is when they split up and created Mike & the Mechanics!! :headbang: :D :DBlind3 schreef:Never was a big Genesis fan. The period of 68-75 was dominated by The Who, The Kinks, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd in my eyes. What music to grow up on!!Re: Genesis, I lost all interest once Peter Gabriel left.Like Steve Hackett as a solo artist though.
Yeah indeed! :headbang:Kowalczyk schreef:Kinks, Who, Small Faces, Pretty Things, northern soul, The Jam, Dexy's Midnight Runners, Style Council, The Specials, Oasis, The Specials... yeah.

He is also very ambitious...Sufjan plans to release an album for every state in America...after this one only about 50 to go. I wish him all the best.Raymon schreef: And Ko, what have you done to me man?! I can't stop listening to Sufjan Stevens! This guy is a bloody genius!
Good riddance. That new album is a 100% stinker. An absolute heap of shit. And his Paradiso gig here in Amsterdam was also a joke. Absolutely terrible. Over here he didn't freak out at the audience but at his equipment, for refusing to do what he wanted it to do. This dude has seriously lost the plot. I hope he won't reform the Smashing Pumpkins (one of the most exciting rock bands of the 1990s -- until 1996). It can only be a disaster.Billy smashes Oz

Billy Corgan is reported to have stormed off-stage at a show in Australia, after fans repeatedly asked for Smashing Pumpkins songs. Corgan, who recently announced plans to reform the Pumpkins, was playing a gig in Melbourne when the incident happened.
According to reports from Australia, one fan shouted from the stage "play some Pumpkins", prompting Corgan to reply: "Can I live my life for today?"
Later in the show, another punter demanded "we want rock", with an increasingly infuriated Billy suggesting the fan ask for his money back. Towards the end of the concert, Corgan snapped at another demand for Pumpkins material, mumbled "f*ck this" and walked-off stage.
Billy Corgan finishes his Australian tour on Friday in Brisbane. In June, he placed a full-page ad in a Chicago newspaper confirming his desire to resurrect the Smashing Pumpkins, revealing: "I want my band back and my songs and my dreams".
Yeah, but Siamese Dream is absolutely one of the best albums ever made. Ever.Kowalczyk schreef:Long live Australia! :xyxthumbs:

'Best Album Ever' is a really, really big claim. But it's definitely one of the best rock albums of the 1990s and probably top 50 material for the 'Best Rock Albums Ever'.aveslacker schreef:Yeah, but Siamese Dream is absolutely one of the best albums ever made. Ever.
You know Ko, that brings up a good point. Double albums. If they took off the 4 or 5 (or more) shite or boring songs, nearly each one of them would be a classic as a single album.Kowalczyk schreef:I loved Gish almost as much. Mellon Collie should not have been a double album: you can compile one brilliant cd out of the two, the rest is filler.K.
