And do you also know the reasons ?
Financially it wouldn't be that bad, but then ?
For me, if they want to sell him, they had to do it last month. Now, I can see something "à la Zlatan": they will sell him and won't have the time to find a
decent replacement,
if it exists...
And if there is no one with Sneijder talent in midfield, we can prepare again for the play-offs... I'm afraid that it would be a terrible lack of ambition.

Wes set a transfer deadline of Aug 14. That would be before he plays any European games for Ajax.
As long as we keep him after that date, he will stay with Ajax "no matter what"

Voetbal International is reporting Wesley is high on Real's shopping list now that Fabregas has said no. They also report Valencia have restarted negotiations....

Well, the newspaper of Valencia said that Valencia is still in the middle of the negotations with their first option Lucho.

Faxes went out to Madrid and Valencia: 32,5 million Euros.
If that turns out the be price for our man Wes, is that something we can live with? I'd say we should seriously consider. But, is Madrid really paying these kind of amounts these days? Or is he destined for the English PL?

In all honesty; this is not the most reliable source...

I would seriously doubt that anyone woiuld pay €32 million for Sneijder. I mean he's a very good little player, but he's not THAT good. However, it is a good sign that Ajax now appear have the self confidence to stand fast with their pricing when pressurized by more powerful clubs.
The days when we gave players like Zlatan away for two packets of crisps and a used tram ticket (to be paid over five years), appear to be well and truly over.

Have to agree with what you are saying - the days of richer European clubs taking Ajax players for peanuts looks as if it is over. Suppose we have to thank Liverpool for that as good a player as Babel may turn out to be I dont think he was worth the money paid for him at this moment. It just means that clubs coming if for Sneijder and Huntelaar know they will have to pay a lot more than was paid for Babel.
With regard to Sneijders value if an English club is willing to pay more than 16 million pounds for Darren Bent then I would say Ajax's valuation for Sneijder is realistic.

English clubs are awash with money so we should get at least 20m euros for him.
As I said last week, with Babel valued at 17m euros KJH should go for 40m, at least over 30 m.

In my opinion the Ajax board realy rely on Sneijder and they hope he can stay for another year. But you can always take everything away from van Geel unless you dont have money.
One word about Klaas Jan: He will stay this season and everything depends on his performance in the upcoming season. He could be sold for 40m to Real, Chelsea or some other powerhouses or for some 17-18m to some mid-class clubs such as Tottenham.

Just checked both Ajax Netwerk and Sporting Life. Both are saying Sneijder has agreed to one more year at Ajax. Fingers and toes crossed that this is the case.
A squad with Sneijder , Kennedy , Hunter , and any contribution from Ismael Urzaiz and ( yuck) Dennis Rommedahl and all of a sudden the black clouds that lingered when Perez , Babel, and De Mul left may be lifting just a bit.

Here's the deal: we sold Babel for much more than we could have expected, so we don't have to sell Sneijder now. Plus, by keeping much of the team intact, we could go far in the CL, meaning that the income earned from the CL and the Babel sale would probably equal or exceed that which we would have gotten from the Sneider sale.
Plus, we're shoring up some areas of weakness as well. Would still like to see some defensive cover and perhaps another winger.
Props to van Geel for a) getting maximum value for Babel; b) not giving Sneijder away cheaply; and c) making sure we have cover at the right positions.
Brickbats to van Geel/HtC for letting Perez go to an eredivisie rival.
I feel better about the upcoming season than I did a few weeks ago. I'll feel even better about it if we get Suarez, as I suspect we will by the end of the month.
We have a unit that has played a season together and has some cohesiveness. If we can get over our tendency to take our eye off the prize and lose to the easy teams, this could be a very good season indeed.

Will be good to keep Wes but next summer he will leave with only 1year on his contract. We will likely only get a max 15m euros and even that sum was not
offered to us this summer so we could lose him for 10 m euros.

As with KJH , I think Wesley Sneijder's performance will dictate his asking price. If he goes gang busters, someone will pay. Football transfers long ago entered the drunks throwing money around in a brothel or a casino realm.

would agree with Blind's last post especially in England. Hence we sell Babel for 17m euros.

Well they were for at least part of last season yes, but I seem to remember that last season was also their first season in Europe for about 15 years....is that how?

Yeah. Moving from Ajax to Spurs would be step higher up financially, but a step down sportively. No doubt about it.
Which doesn't mean that Spurs couldn't beat Ajax in a head-to-head encounter. It would be an exciting game. But if a football player wished to play in Europe every year, and make a bit of an impact in Europe every once in a while, he'd better join Ajax than Spurs.

Spanish reports claim Sneijder is wanted by Real Madrid.
I doubt he'll go since he clearly stated to stay for one more season.

Madrid want everybody....they failed to get Robben and Drenthe so now they want Sneijder....to late in my book.........i would not worry.

If what I've read is true then they didn't fail to get Robben and Drenthe.
Real tend to get what they want.
Wesley has said he's staying put this year.
I don't think this is dead and buried yet....
It would be bad for us if he left, but it would be catastrophic if it's a last minute deal à la Zlatan and we can't get a replacement of sufficient quality for him.

Although he is very important to us, he is not Ajax, and a huge financial offer would tempt our board to sell. Are there still any talks about any other signings for us?

acording to ajaxnetwerk real offered 24 mln for sneijder, so it's serious.. we can't lose wesley this summer

It's like Huntelaar says in the post above ... he is just a player (who happens to be the central cog in the Ajax machine currently) ... he can be sold.
BUT
The replacement must be of a high enough standard and and deal done and dusted. Like I said before, I feel a "Zlatan" moment coming...

any ideas for the replacements? the names are always the same: mbark boussoufa, steven defour, luka modric..madrid doesn't even have a nice player to trade with us. what a poor philosophy if you don't believe in your youngsters.....
but I still believe wesley stays.
