Our old pal Richard Knopper has two for ADO. Cedric van der Gun has one for FCU v. top five hopefuls NEC . Finally, F-word being humped at home by the Super Boeren.

This upcoming Friday: F-word vs AZ at De Kuip.

Should be an interesting match. F-word are shit, I know, but I watched AZ vs Heracles the other night and I thought AZ did not exactly look great either. Feyenoord away will be a tough away fixture for them, no matter how you look at it. It'll be one of those rare nights: I will be hoping for a Feyenerd win.

As we say here in the US, "on any given Sunday..." who would have thought that all three teams in the relegation zone would come out strong. We were the only team to survive an upset (though we came close to dropping points to Vollendam). I've given up predicting matches this year!! :confused.gif:

Did the fixture planners learn something from the Police Strike last year I wonder or is it just "co-incidence" that the fixture computer hasn't thrown up any more Superclassic weekends.

It's exactly a year since my last game in Amsterdam (DWS v Elinkwijk 16/12/2007)!

Az Vs Utrecht tonight, could be important, AZ are on fire atm but hopefully Utrecht can at least get a draw, so if we beat De Graffschap we will only be 1 point behind with one game to go before the break,.

Wishful thinking though because AZ will probably trounce the team that held us to a draw...but thats our season so far

2:0 not as much of a drubbing for FCU as I thought . Now Ajax have to do the business.

F-word are shite. Fortunately, we should get some help from PSV v. Twente match next week. Draw would be great.

Last matchday of 2008:

26 Dec: Feyenoord - NAC Breda
27 Dec: PSV - FC Twente
29 Dec: AZ - NEC

I think Feyenoord will drop two points, or even lose. I do not expect AZ to make mistakes against NEC. PSV vs Twente will be... interesting. I have some hope PSV will drop points.

From the clips i have seen, Twente are playing pretty well and deserve their position on the league table. I can see them beating PSV. Draw would be perfect though.

Hope PSV Twente is a draw but the main thing is we win.

I have a feeling the our final tie of the season with Twente at the Arena will decide the championship.

One positive thing is that AZ and Twente are probably playing as well as they can and may not maintain it. We can certainly play better which is why I believe we will the title.

We can also play much worse... :smallgrin.gif:

Should be an interesting 2nd half of the season.

Today's breaking news is that Willem van Hanegem has been sacked by FC Utrecht.

What a soap opera. A few weeks ago the board felt that they had to take action because of the disappointing results. Their decision was a bizarre one: everybody was fired (assistants, staff) but not the responsible man (Van Hanegem).

Van Hanegem then reported sick and stayed at home for a few days, reportedly because he was so emotional about the whole thing. Then, stories started popping up in which it was claimed that Van Hanegem was the man who actually urged the board to fire his entire staff.

Yesterday, Van Hanegem heavily criticised the club: he had the feeling that they did not support him enough and he announced - totally out of the blue - that he was going to call it quits at Utrecht at season's end. One day later and the board have decided to sack him immediately.

Summary: it's a f**king mess over there - and we dropped two points against them.

This year seems no different than any other than I can remember for the recent years FCU; mediocrity and mid- table. No big budget for players or great youth starlets coming through begetting more mid-table mediocrity.

Half-time in Eindhoven: PSV 0, Twente 0.

If that could be the final score, I would be quite pleased. Come on, Twente.

NEC played AZ tough in Alkmaar, but not tough enough .1:0. Still, Ajax improved the GD between them and AZ by 2.

Every newspaper and football magazine in The Netherlands is now reporting that Feyenoord and head-coach Gertjan Verbeek will part ways immediately. It's everywhere, except on Feyenoord.nl. It's true; no doubt about it.

I think they're making a massive mistake here. The number of injuries has been absolutely gigantic in the first half of the season. Verbeek was always missing a handful of key players. Reportedly, some of the older players wanted him out. Verbeek's relationship with the old hands in his squad was very poor, but that does not necessarily mean that he wasn't doing a good job. Sometimes it's necessary that some of the old hands regard their head-coach as 'the enemy'. It's a process that's sometimes necessary.

I think F-word are sacking a very good coach here, and I don't think the next one will be a better man - whoever it may be.

Very nice to see that it's still a huge f*cking mess over there. :headbang.gif:
