Rijkaard also wants to bring Babel to Galatasaray. His price is about 10m. euros. Maybe we should try to get him home.

Sometimes I wonder what his purpose is. Babel isn't a striker and he isn't a winger. He's also not a midfielder or a defender.

He was quite a promising striker until we started playing him on the wing to get him on the pitch and take advantage of his athleticism. I always thought he was eventually going to move back to striker after KJH left. Unfortunately Liverpool fell in love with him as a winger and the rest is history.

he had a damn good season as a winger too... at times, he was the only one on that team bringing the steam

he's just that rare dutch striker that is best served, by a two-striker set and not the 433 (a la makaay)

goal.com runs a story that Luque wants to cancel his contract with us so he can sign for Malaga on afree.

I do not see anyone wanting to pay very much for this player and I hope that in cancelling it does mean we will not pay him anything ie we are not going to give him a few thousand euros in compensation.

Over the years we have had some crap buys but this guy is the worst signing ever was it 6 or 7m euros??
one injury season with us and we will be getting nothing for him.we paid him 30000 euros aweek I would not have paid him 3 euros !!! aweek.

I believe we want a left back, centre back, possible midfielder, a winger, striker and a third goalie thus about 6 new players but we currently have a first team squad of 29 so that means we need to get rid of 10 players but so far only rumours and a couple of clubs wanted loans.

With the league starting in just over 4 weeks and a tax bill of 5m euros we badly need to unload some
players and not just 1or 2 loans of youngsters like Donald and Van der Heijden where we will likely pay most of their wages.
Hopefully now we are in July things will start to happen .

Our old mate Albert Luque today presented himself at the training. not sure if also Rommedahl and Ogararu, the other loanees, are already at De Toekomst.
One thing is for sure: we have already 30 players and no newcomers yet...don't know how we can get rid of some of the surplus guys but, most sadly, I am wondering if we will sign anyone decent who really wants to wear the ajax shirt. up to now we "failed" elia, berg, boulahoruz, mathijsen, seedorf (he talked to jol but declined) and no news come 'bout onyewu and obradovic

A week down the line and 2 new players in but 3 weeks from the first league game and not a sign or even a rumour of any players going .A couple of weeks ago AEK Athens were evidently after Ogararu but only on a free. He is now with our reserves!! What is he on 15 to 20000 euros a week and like Luque
he must have been paid by us since 1 st June. That is nearly 60000 euros a week on 2 players we could have let go 2/3 weeks ago .
To repeat what I have already said we have bought a lot of dross over the past 2/3 years all overpriced and on too high a salary we cannot get rid .Rommendahl, Silva, Ogararu, Luque, Kennedy,Sno.All these
should not be here but having spent over 12m euros in transfer fees the club would like some money back
but they are living in cloud cuckoo land if they think anyone will pay a transfer fee for any of them.

I also question the purchase of Wielaert , very ordinary,Lindgren when we got rid of him 2 years earlier ,
and Sulejmani who if he does not perform this season will likely be on his way for what 2or 3 m euros!!!

Oh yes and we are still paying a salary to another complete waste of space Manucharyan . What has he ever done here ?? Got a good talented defender Wormgoor the sack.

I do hope MJ sorts this club out and gets rid of the dross but so far this week he has bought in 2 more players who are nothing special.

Just read my last post and that was 2 weeks ago. Nothing has happened since and with the Dutch season starting in just over a week I am beginning to wonder if we will ever cut our squad !

The squad v A Madrid leaves Lindgren out which given that Enoh and Gabri are injured and De Zeeuw , rumoured to be coming next week, does anyone else think the writing is on the wall and he could be the defensive mf to go ?

Would imagine the squad for both games this weekend will be the players he wants in addition to 3/4 of the injured suggests players like Sarpong Blind and VdHeijden will not see much action .Obviously he has decided no future for Ogararu Luque and Martina plus of course Bodul can be loaned out.

why nothing for luque... id like see him play this season.. he can be a real goal machine when hes on form

Our CF depth is one twisted ankle from crisis ( is Yannis Anastasiou available ? ) and Luque doesn't get a sniff. I'm not flip flopping on Luque, don't fancy him long term, but Micky and Civa , with Marvin Zeegelaar for coverage ? Yikes.

Kennedy wants to stay. Sadly I doubt we will get rid of him as no one seems interested and imo I do not rate him much.

Kenndey represents depth for a club who has resembled a hospital ward in recent years. I don't fancy him, but might as well keep him . We've too much invested to just cut bait.

Headlines today state Sparta want to loan Bodul and Hertha Berlin want Sno on loan.I believe we may see 1or 2 players start to leave this week.

according to the first choices of jol, some players could be loaned or "degradated" to the reserves, like:

zeegelaar (but jol sees potential in him)
sarpong
van der heijden
martina
blind
bodul

plus the following could be sold:
ogararu
sno (hertha in interested)
don't think although excluded from the squad in groningen, that oleguer, lindgren and kennedy would leave. the last two claimed that they want to fight for a place.

All these moves above, anyway, could finally bring the squad back to 24 players (32 now), to which I insist we have to add at least a striker. my dream is KJH on loan or something. then we could have a pretty good team, maybe has to grow in defense (ok, not maybe: for sure) but it seems to me quite complete.

In the case of Oleguer , I would keep him for experienced depth. Injuries . plus who knows how many Europa Cup fixtures Ajax will be playing, plus who knows how many Dutch Cup matches = a potential of nearly forty matches, maybe more. Rather see youngsters who aren't quite ready to break through loaned for seasoning and oldsters held for depth .

Wold imagine those listed by Orange Goblin will be those that go although I think Zeegelaar, just out the youth , wont go on loan just yet and maybe Donald could go on loan although like Zeegelaar Jol rates him.I too would rather see these youngsters go out on loan to gain experience and thus Kennedy Oleguer and Lindgren stay in the squad for depth.

De Telegraaf published a list of players who have been told that they can look out for a new club. Ajax are willing to discuss transfers of the following players, according to the Dutch newspaper:

Rasmus Lindgren
Gabri
Oleguer
Kennedy

Daley Blind and Jan-Arie van der Heijden may be loaned out, but will not be sold. Siem de Jong is to stay.

I have to say I'm shocked by the fact that Gabri is on the list... F*ck me, I can't believe it. Selling Oleguer would be fine by me, but only if we buy a quality central defender in his place. If we don't buy, we will need him - mark my words.

Gabri has been a good leader, and fine player for us but I assume his injuries have forced the coaching staff to give him the boot.


I have to be honest. I would be quite fed up if players kept getting injured.

gabri has maybe already had his best days. I would keep him as a 12th man, cause he can do also the right back and has experience and mentality, but I would not loose my mind if he goes. de zeeuw, enoh, aissati, vertonghen, donald, anita, de jong: it's too crowded also for him.
anyway, if I read correctly de reports, gabri, kennedy and oleguer are not to sell at all costs. ajax is open to talk about it, that's it.
the others (sno, ogararu, lindgren and the 5 youngsters sarpong, vd heiden, blind, bodul, martina) can all go. to say it all, bodul is not mentioned in this reports, like he was a few weeks ago. maybe he stays now?
I am sad for lindgren: he was useful last season. especially with fiorentina he was tactically perfect.
but we have to cut from 32 to 23-24 players. and then buy the two we all know: a defender and maybe a striker.
PLEASE, ajax, do it.

Would agree about Gabri. I read yesterday that Martina not good enough for us and not of any interest to any dutch team could end up in Serie A with Bari.Very strange.

The main point is how many of these will be sold .Cannot see anyone coming in for Ogararu or Kennedy
they haven't all summer!

Gabri last played in Ajax 1 in february! And he didn't played much before because of injuries and Van Basten. It's a shame but it seems he has virtually already left the club.
