Yeah, they've really been crap since '06. Three consecutive PL titles, CL winner, CL runners-up, League Cup, Club World Cup....

The whole Van der Vaart thing ain't gonna happen. He has told Ajax that it's too early (and he's right).
I've moved the posts from the separate 'VdV back to Ajax?' thread to this one, right here - and deleted the other thread.
Manneken Pis schreef:Tribal Football (not the most reliable site ... I know) is reporting Jol may be interested in bringing Rafael van de Vaart back to Ajax. Good contact exists between them because of the Hamburg days, and it looks like lots of changes coming to Real because of the new (old) president. Also rumours that ManUre are looking at Huntelaar if Tevez leaves...
Not sure how I feel about VdV coming back ... I was getting frustrated with him near the end of his last spell in Amsterdam when he seemed to stop trying, and having some king of ego battle with Zlatan.
DanK schreef:I could be wrong, but I didnt think Jol was in charge while vdV was at Hamburg?
Ajaxfanuk schreef:If i remember anything about VdV its that hes a cocky lil bugger, no way would he come back with his tail between his legs, he did well in Germany, he's failed in Spain so i think he might try elsewhere, perhaps another Spanish club like Valencia or something, or maybe Italy, though im not sure where he'd fit in over there. Or he could try n come to England, im sure Man City have some change lying about the back of thier sizable Eastlands sofas.
Failing that he could try Spurs ;)
Either way, the man is im sure too stubborn to come back to "lil old Ajax"
Ajaxfanuk schreef:Thats true, VdV left just before Jol took charge I believe, if they were together it was for a very very short time
Manneken Pis schreef:Apologies for starting a new thread ... accidents happen.
Ko, please move to "Ex-Ajax Players" thread (or "Players coming to Ajax" ... depending if you believe the report ;o) ).
bluedaddy19 schreef:first of all, do you know him personally? or are you just, what, assessing his personality and thoughts from through the TV? good grief
secondly, i'd have a hard time saying he "failed" in spain; he's been there one whole year and played far better than the guy starting ahead of him on a team that took a massive title dump without him on the field
his only failure was moving to that overcrowded club in the first place
jamie schreef:He is one of my favorite Ajacieden of the last decade and I really wish he would come back. However I don't see this happening at this point in his career. He is too young to return back to Holland. There will be plenty of teams in Spain, Italy or England that will want him and which can offer him considerably higher salaries then what Ajax can.

KJH would do well at Man U. They need a real striker anyways, they have never really had one since Ruud left.
Notice how they started winning the League and Champions League after RvN left? It's because Ruud's style of play didn't fit with the fast, counterattacking style that SAF tends to play. And neither would KJH's. He's not fast nor technically skilled enough to play for Man U. I'm not sure he would fit in at Arsenal either for those very reasons. KJH needs to go to Italy, where his only responsibility would be to make goals.
I don't think so, Holland during Euro 2008 was rather fast-paced and counter attacking, and Ruud and KJH did rather well.

The player KJH most reminds me of is Luca Toni who is one of the best poachers around.

And yet Man U is clearly better off without Ruud. Furthermore, KJH was ok in 08, but I wouldn't say he was great. Ruud, who is a little faster and more skilled, did well, though.

what i have always hoped is that we could somehow manage to get all of these guys from the 02-03 team that want to come back one day (rafi, chivu, heitinga, etc) to all come back at the same time... give that crew one more shot together along with whatever kids we have then

Oguchi is not someone I'd want to get on the wrong side of.

Frank Rijkaard and Johan Neeskens are the new coaches of... Galatasaray.
I have to say: that's a remarkable move. Rijkaard turned Ajax down in a very resolute way and his agent said that Rijkaard preferred England or Italy.
And now he's moving to Turkey, to a team that may be a little bit better than Ajax in one season, and a little bit weaker in the next, but is definitely not the big club in a major league that Rijkaard seemed to be aiming for.
Don't get me wrong: I did not want Rijkaard (Jol was higher on my wishlist anyway), but I do get the impression that he didn't have as many great options as he thought he had. Galatasaray is a great club, but they're 'great' in the Ajax way (history, support, media attention, 'lager than life' phenomenon in their country no matter if they're good or not, etc.), but not as much in a 'we're going to win the Champions League' way.

Maybe it's his way to rival HTC
Panathinaikos vs Gala
Greece vs Turkey
Assitant manager vs Manager

Wait, I thought Co was going to Galatasaray. Or was that Fenerbahce?

Co was tipped for Gala indeed, but Rijkaard was the surprise they hired.

Thought this was kind of a nice piece on Edgar Davids, who says he's devoting himself to the SVBN (Street Football Association), which seeks to foster integration among the youth in the Netherlands' "problem slums" through football.

interesting one. I still think he is Germany bound as they can offer him CL football and Spurs aren't in Europe. I'd be a fan of this move mind as he is my fave player and am a huge Spurs as well as Ajax fan so I'd love to see him become a lilywhite, but no EU football could be a problem...more money and the chance to play EPL football could prove tempting though :D
Here's hoping!

i dont think a move to england would suit him, its a bit rough for him to be honest, hes only small and not so quick, where as the majority of english defenders are big, strong and fast. might be a bit of an open invitation for a bully

He's not that small is he? 1.86
He's not particularly fast, but quite strong.

well, if you look at someone like shevchenko, hes similar to huntelaar in the way that hes not overly fast (atleast not anymore) isnt too muscular, but has an eye for goal.. he really struggled in england.. as did kezman. im sure he could cut it. especially at someone like spurs.. theyre right on your back there if you do bad.. alves is another good example of dutch league to english rarely works.

I was kind of hoping to see Huntelaar at Arsenal, especially if Adebayor ends up going to City. It almost seems like both transfers are going ahead at the same rate, so he may Huntelaar may have signed before the other deal is done.
At least according to the article posted, Ajax should be getting 6m out of Madrid for the sell-on.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca Ajax will get 7 million euros from Real Madrid if they sell KJH on. A mate of mine who lives in Barcelona told me this. Marca also claims that Ajax and Real Madrid agreed to a fixed fee (!) of 7 million euros if KJH is sold on. Not a percentage, but a fixed fee of 7 million.
That's what I've been told.
Not bad...

Isn't that the amount of back taxes the club owe? If so, it gets us out of that doghouse but doesn't leave anything for a new acquisition.

Our old friend Maxwell is now a member of Barca. Transfer fee 4,5m. We should offer 5m to Inter and get him back
