I will be glad of dear old Jasper's coming back. then perez could be seen more as a number 10 (behind Wesley) and Mitea could recover without pressure waiting his moment behind Gronkjaer..
But first, let's bring the midfielder(s) and the new RB, a spot that seems not interesting the board...

K.
I really loved Grønkjaer when he played in Ajax. He was (and still is) one of my favourite players, so this transfer will be great for me. He didn't have best time in Chelsea and in Birmingham, but I believe that he will back to his fantastic form in Ajax. And we will have good left-winger at last...
If he can't cross he is no use.

With Mitea Perez and 2 youngsters Boerrigter and Goosens we now have 4 left wingers for next season why do we want Gronkjaer??? Does he play on the right side at all ???
We currently have 5 strikers so now the plan is to have 5 left wingers!!!!
I think we need a new right winger as Rosales does not impress me in the games I have seen him on TV.

I guess I'm the only one, but I can't stand Gronkjaer. Every time I've seen him play, he's wining, diving, and elbowing opponents. He seems a total punk. If he did sign with Ajax, I suppose I'd have to get used to him.

I'm with you! He's not my favourite player either, for the same reasons you mentioned.

Aveslacker, go back a few posts and you will find at least 3 people who are not too keen on Jesper signing for Ajax. :xyxthumbs:

Yup
Does he play that position well? :X
Personally, I very much doubt this transfer will happen. As I wrote a few posts back, the origin of the rumour is a very dubious "but". Why Ajax would sign him instead of getting quality at some other positions or even bringing in a "local", I just can't understand. But, I have been disappointed lately with Ajax in terms of player signings that I did in the past.
This is nothing against Grønkjær as a player or person. He has been a great player for the teams I love (the national and Ajax). Up to the euro in 2004 he lost his mother to cancer. He only joined the squad for the third group game and came up as a sub. He scored a brilliant goal, and I remember tv-pictures of him running up to the camera and screaming into it like a beast. To me, that was a sign of what soccer can do. Playing soccer and scoring in the middle of a personal crisis was obviously a way for him to deal with a great loss. He sort of shared his pain with the fans and let it all out. For that alone I hold him in high regards. (He also deputed on the national team with a catastrophic pass back to the keeper that was intercepted and scored on. It's up and down with Jesper.)
I think he had a good spell in Chelsea too. I can't remember if he decided to leave just before or after the Russian money came, because I think he actually played well around that time too. But he hasn't played consistently good for more than three years. That's my whole point.
Would the Grønkjær that played for Ajax in the 90s be useful for the Ajax 2006 side? Definitely. Would the Grønkjær that plays for Stuttgart in 2005/2006 be useful for the Ajax 2006 side? No, I don't think so. Like I said, nothing against him, I just don't think we need what he can bring to the table.

According to "Piłka Nożna" Ajax wants to buy Ugur Yildirim from Heerenveen.
What do you think about it? He would be good replace for Mauro Rosales, but I am not sure that better than Gronkjaer...

Yildirim is a more accurate crosser . Consider how many goals Huntelaar scored at Heerenveen.
Wouldn't object if Ajax signed Yildirim, however would prefer Jenner (a very accurate crosser)because he looks to be quicker. :xyxthumbs:

Let's see ............... New winger + Tom De Mul (if he is brought back from Vitesse) + Rosales = 3 relatively experienced right wingers. I don't know if Ajax will require 3 relatively experienced right wingers. If Ajax want 3 such right wingers then he stays. If not. It all depends on how Rosales is rated compared to De Mul..

And the interest he gets from River Plate in the summer, i f i had to bet i would say he would go.

so the race is between jenner, gronkjaer, wilhemsson, yldirim and diba (in this order if i have understood)
not sure it's a good move, i've seen the game 'gainst RBC and Rosales wasn't bad at all (ok, I know, the opponents were nothing)..but if river offers the right money..

Van Geel today: No Bouma, No Jenner and he would like Mathijsen.
Also there is a chance that PSV might be interested in signing Vonk.

What Van Geel appears to be doing is buying players which have the versatility to play in a number of positions so that during the course of the game players are comfortable with swaping around. It looks like he is trying to get back to the total football concept. It will really make it difficult for the opposition if they haven't a clue where the likes of Rosenberg, KJH, Perez, Sneijder and even Urby will pop up.
This guy is a smart cookie.

I agree. He seems to have a plan, which is more than we can say for his predecessor. I feel good about what he's doing for the club. But he needs to sign some more defenders besides Stam.

Another reason not to sign Grønny. He can paly both wings (yes, he can. No mentioning of how well) but not midfield including No 10 and not the central attacker

want a versatile player? lets swap one argie for another. sell rosales and buy cesar delgado. can play right/left wing, cf (as a speed striker), or even the top of the midfield. although, rosales shows good talent in south america may not necessarily translate (cesar plays in mexico, not argentina).
anyhoo, mathijsen next to stam would be awesome. dont you guys feel bad though getting all the players from az?

Wingers play as wingers.Other than that , they may have to fill the space left by a fullbacks attacking run. The main reason not to sign Gronkjaer is his inaccurate crossing. :xyxthumbs:

me. I think Rosales is good and he's starting to get better in recent games. But I also believe that he needs some competition in that spot. De Mul would be a possibility. I was hoping we could get Jenner but recent Van Geel declarations say that Ajax is not interested in him.
What we need is some creative player in the midfield to go along with Sneijder. I've been hearing that we migh sell Sneijder to Milan next season. Please NO!!!

Not much hope for him getting minutes there with Kaka, Gattuse, Pirlo and Rui Costa already there. Could be as replacer to the replacer Rui Costa then, But he'd still have a very hard time there I think,

me, for sure. I think the guy is finding is way back to form, good pace and crosses, perhaps he is still not dangerous on shooting like in his first season at Ajax. But in my opinion he has to play and to "feel" that Blind trusts in him and de mul. Anyway I hope tonight he proves ho is. I would like also gronkjaer and mitea on the other side, with perez to be a jolly for the number 11 e 10 positions.
But what about the other midfielders we need? this is the key point for next season: we need landzaat and a ball-hunter.

I read this morning that Barca are after a certain Romanian Roman. Apparently there's some clause in his contract that lets him leave AS Roma after July 1st 2006 for 6 million pounds (8 million euro I think.)
Would Chivu be interested in returning to Ajax? He did say he wanted to come back some day. I know he's not as money driven as other players, so who knows, he might accept a salary offer from Ajax. And as for the transfer fee, I'm sure we can work something out with Roma, seeing as they probably still owe us like, er, probably 8 million euros.
Stam and Chivu in defence?
Ok, time to get back to reality, it's not gonna happen... :D

Yeah. Not likely to happen, I mean Christian knows about the huge pressure put on central defenders at Ajax. ONE blunder and you're off to the bench for the rest of the season... ;)
