Weird how we look like rubbish in the league and manage to pull through in the Euro matches. However, based on today's performance the Helmond Cup may reside in France (or elsewhere Europe) for quite some time. I hope I am proved wrong but am not optimistic.

The Helmond Cup is about the result on the day, including extra time and possibly penalties. That's how Ajax lost it to FC Volendam a few months ago: they didn't keep it because the score after regulation was 0-0, but lost it, as the result after extra time was 1-0 to Volendam.

It would have been bizarre if Ajax had won 3-2 after extra time. If that had happened, they would have won the Helmond Cup, but crashed out of the UEFA Cup...

Yeah, their internet service provider has withdrawn. The guy who ran the site told me he was looking for a new provider, but I don't know what he's been up to...

They still have a page on Hyves, though (the Dutch equivalent of MySpace/Facebook).
