If you miss the number of chances we had, you don't deserve to advance.
Fuck.

I don't often post on these boards, but there is some stuff I need to get off my chest after those 90 minutes.
First off, HTC is just not good enough, he may say some nice stuff in interviews but tacticaly tonight he got it very very wrong. The midfield just went missing, the ball seemed to be going backwads more often than forwards and Ajax desperately need a playmaker.
I know Ajax are the team of total football and feel the need to stick with their wingers, but really with the team available tonight 4-4-2 would have been a better bet.
The summer buys will take time of course, but really apart from Suarez there is a BIG quality gap between players sold and players bought. Its simple mathematics, no team can maintain form when its leaking quality every transfer window.
Time to face up to it, Ajax just isnt a European power anymore, and is even in danger of being pushed out in the league. Look at the quality signings Feyenoord have made this summer. Ajax will find the classics much harder this season.
Bottom line, HTC is not good enough to coach a European power. Ajax SHOULD be a European power. So, HTC must go. There is a few days left before the transfer window and he needs to move very quickly to fix the quality gap.
Maybe after a few wins in the league this will all seem like just a bad night in Prague, but right now when I'm staring another season of Uefa Cup ties in the face it seems like the end of an era.

All that can be said is WE SUCK! PERIOD!
Goodbye Champions League, Goodbye KJH, and Goodbye Championship. I think I am going to go out and buy some Ajax shares to cash in on the KJH sale. We all know Ajax won't even bother to get a replacement for him.

Lets get Van Gaal back next year. This year is down the drain anyway - in terms of European Football.

I agree, Ajax need to start experimenting with 4-4-2 formations. I also think that it is the end of an Era. That is 2 years in a row with HTC being bounced so he must go. No excuses. Maybe Frank Rijkaard will take pity on us and jump from Barca to show the players how to play Champions League Football.

Hasn't he taken a job in the Middle East?

IMO Co didn't exactly set the stage on fire the last time around. He ended up experimenting with crazy 3-5-2 formations back in the day.

He was given two half seasons to do a very difficult job. Ajax fucked Co over and are still paying for that stupid decision.

Indeed. Don't think he'll ever return, no way.
Rijkaard and Van Basten are the best options next season.

We keep changing managers and it solves fuck all.
Somehow I think the problem lies somewhere else.
In my opinion:
- Our scouting has been shitty four about five years now. Groningen found Suarez. Heerenveen found Huntelaar. Twente found Kennedy.
- We sell before we buy and when we sell we don't know who to buy.
- Our youth system keeps producing the same highly skilled and physically underwhelming players. A football team also needs big strong centre backs, dominating midfielders and commanding goalkeepers. We all know that Maduro isn't good enough to be a regular starter, but today the team was so depleted that even Maduro was missed. How did it come to this?
If Ten Cate hasn't indicated to Van Geel that we need proper defenders and a goalkeeper who can catch the round thingy flying through the air then, yes, we need a new manager. If he has and the club has failed to buy any, then, Houston, we have a major problem.

I suddenly feel extremely bad for AZ. We fucked them over twice in the playoffs. If they would've won, I'm pretty sure that they would've beaten Slavia Prague and/or Copenhagen.

I'm not too disappointed. We weren't going to win the CL anyway, and the question whether or not we'd survive beyond Christmas is pointless to me.
Forget about it. It wasn't meant to be. But also remember that there would have been no need to play this game if we had won the championship (bought by psv, imo. Not once, but twice when they needed a late goal after Ajax scored, Vitesse defenders didn't even try to keep psv from scoring). Anyway, there is, and was, only one true goal this year. An absolute must. To win the Dutch title.

True...shit does happen but we are supposed to learn from our mistakes....yet we have not. Hell even Danny Blind got us into the Champions League.....Christ sake....i wonder sometimes where has Ajax Ambition gone ???
In the end the fact is that one off Ajax objectives is to be one of the top 16 teams in Europe every season....for two straight years we have not even been in the top 30........depressing really.

this is a key problem for a club with ajax philosophy.
the other one - bigger I think - is the lack of mentality I have noticed in the last (more than ten in my opinion) years. as someone wrote before, our youngster want to be sold always earlier, 'cause "they come from the well known ajax academy". and this is it. we are the nursery of europe and - in this moment - no more.
I disagree with some comments only in one aspect: I am not sure that our buyings are shit. kennedy is not, rommedhal is not, luque - I am sure - is not and suarez is a potential star, also. maybe colin is crap, but he hasn't lost the game in prague.
the game was lost in our minds, we don't think like a top club anymore.
dramatic.
ps: even celtic has made it on penalties: we are the only one out of the door..........fuckin'shit

If i am not mistaken i believe our good old friend Ten Cate asked for a little chap called Jurgen Colin.....an amazing buy off course

as usual, you awkwardly stick stekelenburg in the gripe, and for what exactly?
seriously, please enlighten us all as to how maarten had thing one to do with this 2-leg loss
