Exactly - 100% agree.

Back on Topic now - are you over for the 9th dws?
This post isn't fair. I can't disagree with you :mad1:

I wont be attending any fixture this campaign, but I will attend next season. :xyxthumbs:

Well my flight leaves later tonight and provided my plane doesn't plummet into the ocean, I should be arriving in Schiphol 27 hours or so later.

Who knows. When we went to the game last year, it was the first game with a new head coach. Maybe we have started a trend. Ajax USA tour, Ajax Amsterdam new head coach ;)

Looking forward to catching up with everyone. :eusa_dance: :bier:

Excellent. I leave in 48 hours. Can't wait...

Should we add the Disciplinary Hearing in Zeist to our agenda for Tuesday? :redcard:

Hey, so everyone should bring their boots...we really should have a little kickaround or something. I think that'd be a great time! :headbang:

OK after some much needed sleep I have finally gotten around to putting the photos from the trip online.

Use the link:
http://flickr.com/photos/phillipfry/

Then you can just click on 'Ajax USA's Rendezvous in Amsterdam 2006' towards the top left corner to bring up all Ajax related photos from the week (inc: the games - sorry some of these are a bit blury - drinking (might explain some of the bluriness of some photos), enjoying the tropical Amsterdam weather, the Ajax History Tour and of course a few photos of the guys in training...enjoy.

BTW - Was great to catch up with everyone again, hope to catch up with you all again at some point in the not too distant future.

Cheers
DanK (aka the original Dan)

Photo's are great Dan, Well Done. Puts mine to shame a bit. I really love the one from De Toekompst "enjoying" the weather....

Another successful Ajax USA Trip

The weather was pretty good and the seats at the matches were fantastic. Some great photos courtesy of Dan. The Hosts once again did an outstanding job.

Well, Blind may have gone but at least Ajax USA (and some of Ajaxtalk) are now famous!

The new edition of "Champions" magazine is out today and Ajax USA, specifically the AZ/Vitesse trip last month is featured strongly. Photo's of Dan K, Jim and Micha as well as a group photo and quotes from loads of us. I thought at the time they would do a page or so but we have 6 pages of glorious colour all to ourselves.

Anyway, you can see for yourselves, Smiths and probably everywhere else in the UK will sell it and I know AKO at Amsterdam Centraal Station has it as well. :headbang:

I just got my copy in the mail today, and, my word... I guess this is our 15 minutes of fame. :-) Loads of pictures of the group and a really nice, very personable and personal story.

I too bought a copy , what a great article , it does justice to our fine site and to this magic club.

I showed the wife and told her I have no excuses as flights are £ 50 and I can stay with my Aunt if I want to , she lives 2 miles away from The Arena.

I could have gone on a cricket trip to Durham but she is coming round to the idea I have to get over to Amsterdam.

A big thanks to Jim and Menno and all of you for making this a great site for all Ajax lovers the world over.

I've just written a brief news item about the article on Ajax USA:

Ajax USA featured in Champions magazine

Tomorrow I'll add images of the rest of the pages, and maybe we'll get permission from Champions to republish the full article...

Just got my copy today (of the Champions mag). Great read and well put together by Steph. Captured the feel nicely. I must say though, Jim I thought the picture of you and me at the game, would have made the cover, but instead someone called Ronaldinho made it. Ronaldinho??? Who the bloody hell is that? :D

It also reminded me of what a great time I had catching up with everyone. So many good friends made and so many good beers drunk.

Fingers crossed I can make it again next year...better start saving though.

OK, that picture... Dan and I are standing around at halftime, most of the seats around us are empty... and the photographer wants to take our picture, from the field. (We're about 15 rows up.) So we stand there with scarves over our heads, and the people around us are looking at us like "Who the f*ck are these twats?" I think the weird mood definitely shows in our faces.

And for the record, I never claimed I could tell a "true" fan by looking into their eyes. I did say that you can tell the serious Ajax fans from the casual football tourist on the History Tour, just by the looks on their faces. Eh, artistic license. :xyxthumbs:

I tried scanning each page, but I somehow missed one page. I'll add that this weekend...

Yeah, why not? You guys are not uglier than Ronaldinho.

Having said that, I honestly can't believe there still are magazines on this planet that do not put half-naked birds on their covers. It's beyond me.

The funniest thing about the whole artical (well apart from my slightly weird grin on the photo with Jim & I), was that they had my last name starting with a 'T'?!? Ah...my true identity still remains a mystery ;)

Also, I don't actually remember saying Ajax was a 'Mythical' club. I think Steph, summed up my 27 words summing up Ajax into 1, although I did have lots of beers so maybe I did say that. Can't remember some of the night.

Was an enjoyable read though. Great times...Next year 'Time' magazine.

OK, I've now uploaded the "missing" page here:

http://www.ajax-usa.com/travel/2006/champions/

So now you can see (though maybe not read; depends on your monitor resolution) the entire article.

And I heard back from Steph at Champions: the magazine is available by subscription (see http://www.uefa.com/Competitions/UCL/championsmag/ or
http://www.haymarketsubs.com/) in the States, and is also stocked at Barnes & Noble.

Fantastic article!!! Well deserved praise !!! Glad to see Ajax-USA enjoy a moment in the sun. Especially since it has rewarded its members by a factor of several thousands for every one positive press story.
