After seeing bits and pieces of Chelsea's last two matches, I'm not sure that I want to see Ajax play them. The dismembered Leeds in the Cup 5-1 and pasted Aston Villa today 8-0 (it could have been worse except for some fine goalkeeping by US #2 Brad Guzan).

Just had a look at the current team ranking according to the notorious UEFA (latest update 2nd May).
Incredible.
We are number 27.
The calculation is based on the 5 latest seasons. As for the current season, Manchester City are awarded 10.2284 points. More than Ajax with 9.8428. I thought we were ahead of them in this season's CL...
Philips appear to get exactly the same total number of points as Ajax : 64.945.

F*ck the UEFA.

There is also a country part in the coefficient. And England has a better one than Netherlands.

I quote: "The UEFA team coefficients are calculated as the sum of the number of points of each individual team, and 20% of the country coefficient."

I thought that Zagreb is banned from CL football for at least one season and that Besiktas and Fenerbache for two (though the Turkish teams are waiting a final decision from the arbitration court). Anyway, Lyon are playing Grasshoppers in the fourth round and PSV have drawn SV Zulte Waregem (never heard of them!).

EDIT: oops, I guess this is still a playoff round.

Zulte were in the uefa cup a few years ago, i remember them doing quite well, but got knocked out to newcastle, i remember watching it with a close friend who's a newcastle fan. also, more notably for us, we played them in the groups that year (we won 3-0 with huntelaar and heitinga scoring i believe). they are based in belgium, so only a short trip for those big spenders at psv

by the way, i just checked and it was indeed 3-0... we had a few decent players at that point....

Wow Tom de Mul. I remember he was good for us for a minute before he decided he was a little too good. Now he's made a grand total of 21 appearances in five seasons since he joined Sevilla. Good choice!
