Just to say that Daley Blind was are only player in the Dutch u 19 3-2 win over Luxemburg. They are playing a qualifying comp for 2009 European U 19 championship.

The Dutch u21 team did not qualify for the 2009 u21 champs and the only other age group where there is a competitive competion is at u17 level where the Dutch play 3 qualifying games at the end of the month for a 2009 european championship.

At u 17 level ie our B1 team they have picked 4 of our players for these qualifiers ,Warner Hahn goalie, Dico Koppers central defender whose brother Nico plays for our A2 team , Ricardo Kip in midfield and
Cerilio Cijntje a striker. Another of our B1 team Rueben Ligeon a defender has been in the U17 squad this season for a couple of friendlies.

Not quite as many players as we provided for the dutch U17 last season when Rodney Sneijder, Geoffrey Castillion etc played at that level. There is only Dutch U18 friendlies so they will only play in those this season.

Would've been a blast. Sorry for not dropping you a line. Next time, I hear the US has chosen Washington, D.C. as one of the cities for the Hexagonal WC 2010 tourney, I'll make a point of it. Hopefully the MLS Philadelphia 2010 Supporters Club will have another bus trip. If not, I'd still be happy to pick up tix for a match.

Just to update on Dutch U19 and U17 teams for 2009 Euro champs.

As I posted earlier in the month the U19 only had Daley Blind in 3 qualifying games. They are now through to an elite qualifying round in March to May with the final 8 to play in the championship next summer.

I only mention the U17's , which is identical in qualifying and in 3 games this week several Ajax played . Warner Hahn was goalie in all 3 games and Dico Koppers, central defender also played all 3 .Cerilio Cijntje, a striker and Ricardo Kip , a midfielder, both played as subs in 2 games. The U17's are through to this elite qualifying also.

Not so many from Ajax in these age groups. However to be really obscure on Dutch internationals there is an U16 friendly tourny this week and 6 Ajax kids from our B2 team were in the Dutch squad .

Just to say that the Dutch u16's won a tourny beating Italy 3-0, France 1-0
and Uruguay 5-3 and 4 of our B2 team kids played and completely dominated the scoring. Jip Bartels scored 3, Davy Klassen 2, David Lizardo and Lesley da Sa 1 each(and one of the other 2 goals not scored by Ajax lads was an OG )

Only slightly worrying thing is can we keep these kids from being stolen by English clubs.Last years star u16 Ozyakup left Az for Arsenal and even a crap little team like Pompey took some 16 year old from Den Haag.

We might have to try and sign some of these 15 year olds when they turn 16 in the New Year.

With only KJH picked for the international in a couple of weeks I am pleased to say that for a Dutch u18 v Belgium u18 game we have 6 in the squad of 18. Roly Bonevacia,Lorenzo Burnet, Geoffrey Castillion, Floran Jozefzoon, Ricardo van Rhijn and Rodney Sneijder. Another player Lorenzo Ebecilio is on standby. All are under contract so any English thiefs , sorry scouts , looking will not be stealing any of these kids.

Plenty of Ajax players picked for the various Dutch teams in action in acouple of weeks time.

At senior level only Steks is picked .

U21 we have Anita, Sarpong, de Jong, V dWiel and Goossens also note 2 ex youths who recently left us are in Wormgoor plus Joey Godee of Sparta(left our youths in summer 2007 at just 18 and now in Sparta first team and scored 2 goals recently) With Anita maybe loaned and Goossens likely to go we could see 4 ex Ajax youngsters in action!!

U19 Daley Blind and Rodney Sneijder

U18 Geoffrey Castillion, Ricardo van Rhijn,Roly Bonevacia and Florian Zozefzoon all contracted.

With 6 in the U17 and 7in the U16 we are still the best in Holland at supplying kids up to 21. The problem comes in making them first team regulars.

Steks and Van der Wiel in the final Dutch squad. Pleased to see Gregory there.

In the U21 squad , which was reduced to 18 today only Sarpong and Anita are included. ( old boys Wormgoor, Godee and of course Goossens make the 18). Good luck to them.

So, Gregory van der Wiel has made his official Oranje début against Tunisia (1-1, friendly). He replaced John Heitinga in the 85th minute.

By the way: our mate Stekelenburg didn't exactly look great on that shot, did he... He really has been struggling since he returned from injury.

Added incentive for the game next month at the ArenA, Netherlands are currently unofficial World Champs a la Helmond Cup style and of course, Scotland are ranked number 1 in terms of history for holding the title. Time for the title to return to its rightfull owners on the other side of the North Sea :biggrin.gif:

Very poor choice of positioning on the Tunisia goal. I'm wondering whether the team seeks to sell him this summer and go with Vermeer as first choice keeper. I don't think they can keep both players happy.

Would go along with that Orange. Vermeer's contract expires 2010 but he wont talk about an extension until this summer ie he is waiting to see what Steks does.

Sarpong and Anita both played for the u21's in a4-1 win v Greece but at lower age levels no Ajax in the u19's but 3 youngsters with contracts in U18 in Castillion, who scored plus Van Rhijn and Ebecilio.About 4 of our lads have dropped out through injury.

At u16 and u 17 level both teams had 6 Ajax lads in each team.

The U21 team beat NEC 2-0 With Sarpong and old boy Goossens scoring .
Sarpong was the only Ajax player with Anita injured in training.

some news this week regards younger Oranje sides.

U21 tourny in Toulon in June,37 initial squad of which Anita, De Jong, Vd Heijden Sarpong are picked plus ex Ajax Goossens Wormgoor and Godee .

U19 play some Euro qualifiers in June with an initial squad of 37 with Padt, Blind Sneijder and Castillion.

Finally the European U17's being played Holland drew 1-1 with England , Ajax defenders Ligeon , Koppers and Veltman played , only other Ajax kid in squad Warner Hahn the goalie.

At least we are producing some youths although in todays U17 v England there were 7 Fworders.

Ligeon and Koppers(brother of Nick who played for the reserves last night) played for the Dutch U17 in a2-1 win over Turkey. Ligeon scored a goal.It is still more like Fword U17 as 7 from that club played.

Dutch u17 lost 2-0 to Germany U17 in the European U17 but qualify for the semi on Friday v Switzerland.
I watched the last half hour but Ajax had only defenders Ligeon and Koppers playing. The only player who looked good to me was Ozyakup who plays for Arsenal( stolen for AZ a year ago) England finish bottom of the 8 and evidently do not qualify for the U17 WC later in the year.

The semi is on eurosport not sure of time.

Dutch u17 beat Switzerland 2-1 yesterday and will play Germany, again, in Monday's final.11.00 CET game on Eurosport.

Again only 2 Ajax players and Ligeon the right back was responsible for the Swiss goal with poor marking. I watched most of the game and the other Ajax player Koppers , a central defender looks ok.
Again Ozyakup,of Arsenal looked good and Madmar, a defensive midfielder from AZ looked good the others all come from Fword so the less said the better.
