No interest for Luque or Mitea according to todays press. No surprise there.

We badly need to unload but apart from not agreeing terms with NAC over schilder there appears to be little in the way of out goings.

Maybe we should put any unwanted players on eBay? Make sure we allow the bidding to start at 1 Euro though, otherwise there wont be any interest.

Leonardo wants to stay . He has a contract until next summer. Our forwards are Cvitanich Suarez KJH(I think he will stay) Sulejmani Kennedy Martina
Rommedahl so not sure where Leonardo will get a game. He has had bad luck since joining us but really cannot see him even getting on the bench with the above listed players all fit and available. Same with Luque.

Ajax.nl:

Kenneth Perez, Laurent Delorge, Jurgen Colin and Albert Luque are the first ones to be dropped out of the A-selection. They are no longer needed by the club and will have to train with Young Ajax until they've found a new club.

Furthermore Leonardo, Dennis Rommedahl, Kennedy and George Ogarary have been told they won't be playing much this season, but they are still with the A-selection. If a club comes with a good offer they can leave as well.

All 8 players mentioned were signed by Martin van Geel!

Nice to see a sense of ruthlessness from Marco. Let's hope some of these players are picked up during the transfer period so we can get off the hook for some or all of their salary.

Don't know why van Geel/ten Cate signed Delorge and Colin in the first place. It didn't seem like either would ever be able to compete, let alone breakthrough in the first team.

I'm a little surprised about the Perez. I think he can still contribute and has valuable experience. I guess there's still time to sell him and then buy him back at the winter break again. I think he would be a better 1st team choice than Leonardo or Kennedy.

I also sort of think Leonardo, Kennedy, and Rommedahl could be useful, but I'm actually glad to see others being given a chance this season.

MvB is obviously chosing youth players above these players. Perez at the bench means trouble so it's not a strange decision.

It definitely sounds like players will know where they stand with MvB. I just hope MvB is right when he says players like Leonardo, Ogararu, Kennedy, and Rommedahl won't be playing alot. That would mean the health of first teamers is good. That said, I do hope the first team reserves get some match action as game fit depth is not a bad thing for any club with aspirations.

The team Van Basten has in mind is starting to take shape... He seems to have this formation in mind:

----------------------------- Stekelenburg -----------------------------

Silva ------------- Oleguer ------------- Vermaelen --------- Vertonghen/Urby

Gabri ----------------------- Aissati ---------------------- Lindgren/Urby

Suárez ----------------------- Huntelaar -------------------- Sulejmani

Also (and I think this is a good sign) he seems to prefer Van der Wiel over Colin. Anita over Ogararu. Sarpong over Perez. Martina over Kennedy or Rommedahl. Mitchell over Luque. In other words: he wants a quality first team and intends to fill gaps with youth players, rather than with mediocre purchases (if possible). That's a very good thing, if you ask me.

He's building something and he does it without mercy. This feels very good, I must say. Everything feels fresh and I love it. It's been a few years since I was looking forward to a new season this much.

Would not disagree with these all going although Perez and Rommedahl would still be useful on the bench.

Whether we can actually get rid of any of them in the next 26 days is another matter.

So far Leonardo has said no to NEC and Ajax have actually had an offer from NAC for Schilder and turned it down, 100000euros to little!! Schilder is currently standing in for Urby and Vertonghen at left back. He could end up not being sold by the month's end and then not being in our squad!!!

Do I take it MVB is pleased with Anita and thus he will not be loaned out?

SPL schreef: Do I take it MVB is pleased with Anita and thus he will not be loaned out?
Yes. Correct. He was very impressed with Anita in the U.K. Anita played as a centre-back there (which is not his usual position, he's more of a right fullback) and did very well, reportedly. Anita, Sarpong and Van der Wiel are pretty sure to be in the A-squad, which I think is a good thing: they've been 'brought' nice and slowly over the past two years and I think they're ready for it.

Donald and Martina less so, but they're still there with the last 28, while a few of their more experienced rivals have been put in front of the 'firing squad' today. Van Basten appears to rate Martina, and he has ditched two right wingers and a left winger today, so I think it looks good for Martina.

As for the fringe players: guys like Colin and Delorge will find new clubs ('cos they will be happy with every offer and they're not too proud to play for NEC or Roda). Kennedy, Luque, Leonardo and Rommedahl will have higher salary demands and they will feel 'too good' for a club like NEC. It's gonna be harder to get rid of them, but if necessary I think Ajax should 'invest' in offloading them: accept your loss and cut them loose, if necessary.

I agree (as usual) with ko' analyisis.
It seems that MvB is choosing for his squad exactly the eleven men mentioned above.

the eleven reserves are going to be like this:

gentenaar (and vermeer)

anita v.d.wiel the new defender silijgard

donald de jong emanuelson (and van der heijden)

martina cvitanich sarpong

the only thing that does not make me sure - I agree with SPL - is the choice of letting rommedahl, leonardo and kennedy go.
I would like to have just one of them in the team as a quality sub on the flanks

the rest of the plan is F*****G perfect!

That's exactly how I've come to feel. Looking at the highlights of the Cardiff game, my impression was that Ajax was always moving the ball with a purpose, looking to either make that incisive pass or to play it back and try from another angle. Always probing, looking for weakness. I don't recall ever seeing that from Adrie Koster.

I really believe that this team can bring the title back to Amsterdam.

I largely agree with MvB and like the proposed line-up, but still would retain the likes of a Leonardo or Rommedahl in case of injuries or suspensions. Additionally, in an era where GD can be all important, one can never have too many weapons.

I also hope we're not so eager to be rid of a Rommedahl or Leonardo that we sell them to a top of the table rival.

MVB is showing his faith in Ajax youth, which is great.I believe we will will see more Ajax youths given chances under MVB.

Not all those listed will go. We seem to think either Rommedahl, Kennedy or Leonardo should stay but we will end up with Luque and those others will be with our rivals.

We will have to start considering paying off players soon. Those whose contracts run to 2009 are Leonardo,Delorge,Perez along with Mitea and Krohn-Dehli plus Schilder. The others all have longer terms.

I would like to know why MVB agreed to let Colin extend to 2010 and now he can go to the reserves. We would need to pay him off, this is a complete joke.He should have left our staff on 30 June but now 1 month later he has 23 months of contract to pay off.

As for Schilder, he is still with us due to Vertonghen and Urby in Peking and we have turned down money for him. We could end up paying him off so he can leave!!!

When Hamburg give us the 1.5 m from Van der Vaart's transfer I would give it straight to Luque and tell him he is no longer an Ajax player. No one is going to buy this waste of space.

The main problem with having so many spare is that they must not clog up our reserves. We have 18 in that squad and as I have said we have had 3 young A1 kids already appearing in the reserves this week.Others like
Sneijder Castillion will be given their chances as well(we do have 11 youths under contract and they need to have reserve exposure asap)

As I keep saying we have 35 first team under contract 18 reserves and 11
youth ie 64 under contract !

Good post. It seems fairly evident that there's a lot of dead wood in the squad to be rid of, it will motivate the young players that they could break into the first eleven if there were less players ahead of them.

I'm sure MVB will be up to this task, as soon as he has finished recruiting the players he wants in...

Looks like Huntelaar will definitely stay, after United are more focused on Berbatov of Tottenham, and other so called interested clubs don't say anything.

Well if the guy stays, I sure hope we win the title for sure.

Real and Man u are still wanting a striker and KJH is on their lists. Hopefully Man u will buy Berbatov but Real have evidently still got him in their sites.

If either team came in for him now we would probably accept 25m euros but I would not be happy with us selling him so near to the end of transfer deadline. We are struggling to find a defender how are we to find a quality
striker in 2 weeks.

Real and Man U are in the category of clubs KJH would want to leave Ajax for. Also, if they offer Ajax 25 million, Ajax will say 'yes'. I still have a bad feeling about it. And an even worse feeling about our upcoming quest for a new striker.

Today it looks like ManU is going to get Berbatov. If that happens they will not need another striker. the only way Madrid gets KJH is if they sell Robinho which the club has said they are not going to do. If they do go after another striker, I think it will be David Villa as he is a proven quantity in the league. I always thought that KJH would be more of a candidate to move to Roma than anywhere else. I think (and hope) he stays with Ajax.

I am like Ko on this. Man u and Real both appear to have KJH as second choice behind Berbatov and Villa. If either first choice moves fail it will be at least this weekend or next week before they make a move for KJH leaving us no more than a week to replace him.

For any other teams we could tell them where to go but Ajax will not be able to stop him moving to 1 of the big 2 giants.

PS I can see why Man u would want him as they only have Tevez and Rooney but where would he fit at Real with Van Nistelrooy still in the team.
