Seriously: I wouldn't mind playing in the UEFA Cup, having a reasonable chance to make it this far - and to play one of these four in the semi-finals. I would love it, to be honest. And then back to the Champions League the year after.

Also: very nice for Julien Escudé. I'll be rooting for him! Who knows he'll return to PSV's Philips Stadium sooner than he thought he would...

Braintree Town won the Isthmian League championship in style at neighbours Chelmsford City on Easter Monday. Two first half goals from James Hawes and Eugene Ofori secured the 2-0 victory and the final three points that were needed to win the Premier Division title.

Arse(hole)ne Wenger was his usual friendly self after the Arsenal - Tottenham draw. Ignoring the opposition coaching staff after your team deservingly didn't win is a disgrace.

That guy is a massive cry baby. Get over yourself mate. I am so sick of his childish attitude. Maybe you should look at how poorly your team played for the first 75 min, or maybe your team selection and say you were wrong.

Argue all you like during the game, but pull your head in after it.

Wenger "You expect to get the ball back in England, but if that's the way they want to play it's their responsibility."

Ah...how soon the man forgets. Wasn't it Kanu (then playing for Arsenal) that did the same thing?

I wouldn't mind seeing Arsenal go all the way in the CL (great way for Bergie to finish his career), but a part of me would love to see them get dumped out and finish 5th.

And it could be more and more... Roman Abramovich is one of the sponsors in Russian Federation :). Besides Hiddink was a coach of South Korea and PSV, so maybe he likes such a strange employers ;) .

Worthing have fallen away to 8th with one point from their last 4. BUT we have a crap goalie.He has cost us big time.He is the worst in the league and has been giving away goals since signing last Nov.

"England job not for me - Scolari

Luiz Felipe Scolari appears to have ruled himself out of taking over as England coach after the World Cup.
But following his remarks in Portuguese at a news conference in Germany there is still some confusion as to whether he has definitively rejected the job.

"The English FA is going to choose a name. My name isn't one of them because I'm closing this matter here," he said.

"I was very pleased they considered me, but definitely at this time I want to draw a line under this matter."

Strongly tipped in this week's media to become Sven-Goran Eriksson's successor, Scolari explained that he had been shocked by the English media intrusion over the last few days.

But BBC Radio Five Live's football correspondent Jonathan Legard said the principal reason for Scolari apparently withdrawing his candidacy was because his family had received death threats, although the Brazilian made no reference to this at the news conference.

Legard said the threats were believed to have originated in Portugal, where Scolari is currently the coach of the national football team.

Scolari, who will remain Portugal coach until after the World Cup, said: "I don't want anything more to do with this England matter because in the space of two days... my life was invaded, my privacy was disrupted.

"There are 20 reporters outside my house now. If that is part of another culture, it is not part of my culture. I am not the coach, and will not be (England's) coach."

Scolari added that the press had made "absurd comparisons" of him and his wife with Eriksson and the Swede's partner, and how they dressed, adding: "That's not part of my life and its never going to be."

The 57-year-old's contract with Portugal expires on 31 July and he has a gentleman's agreement not to commit himself to another job until his current deal runs out.

The Football Association has reacted by saying it would "reflect" on Scolari's statement before making any further comment.

But it revealed that the Brazilian had contacted the FA ahead of his announcement to tell the organising body he was pulling out.

"Luiz Felipe Scolari this afternoon made the FA aware of his intention to release a statement regarding the England head coach position," said a statement on the FA website.

"It is no secret that Mr Scolari is one of the candidates that the FA has spoken to as part of the recruitment process.

"We will now reflect on his announcement before making any further comment as we move forward with the process."

After making his statement, Scolari was seen posing with a Portugal scarf at a function outside what will be the team's hotel for this summer's tournament.

"I am committed to the Portuguese FA until the end of the World Cup and maybe longer," Scolari said.

"In the last few days when I was not even the manager of England my freedom was taken away from me and that is not the coaching I am used to.

"I don't want to be a part of it." "
