New Players for Ajax

Had 19 starts for Crystal Palace, substituted in 5 times and on the bench 9 times. Played mostly as RB and a few times as CB (wasn't he a midfielder at Ajax?). Doesn't seem to do that badly. Hasn't disappeared yet. We'll see in a couple of years.

Ajax have had a bid for Argentinian defender Lisandro Magallan rejected from Boca Juniors, not sure why Ajax would go for him, unless he is a fringe/squad player. He isn't in contention for the world cup

I think Fosu-Mensah left us in feb-16 and since then he's made approx. 33 appearances (including substitutes)... so for me, going from one of the most promising players in dutch football to playing 33 times in almost 2 and half years (and out of position) is poor and generally bad for our NT.

It's no coincidence we have a poor NT when all (or a lot at least) the promising talent which comes out of Holland is scooped up and forgotten about by the age of 20.

Too many players are leaving too early . Fosu-Mensah is a good prospect but 19 starts for a rubbish side like Palace is not good enough for someone who is a full Int. Riedewald doesn't play that many games for Palace either and poor old Davy Klaassen even less for Everton( he left at 24 which is the right age but wrong club)

Castillio and Redan at Chelsea youth wont ever play for them and Chong at Man u rated highly would be in Feyenoord's first team now.

de Ligt would walk into most sides in EPL but Kluivert would struggle and certainly not good enough for the top 6 . 19 starts at Palace would probably be his limit at present.

I don't know whether Fosu-Mensay makes it or not but regarding your second statement, look at the world class defenders that are now coming out of The Netherlands. We have van Dijk, de Vrij, and de Ligt all of whom are good enough to start on almost all NTs in the world. Who would have thought that the nation that brought total football about would now be known for producing defenders?

EDIT: Regarding leaving to early, it's interesting to look at van Dijk who was 19 when he moved to Celtic. He spent two years in Glasgow before moving to Southampton and then on to Liverpool. This was a modest set of moves and his transfer fee to Celtic was only €2.5M. Would he be as successful today had he gone directly to one of the big EPL sides?

Think V Dijk was 21 when he left Groningen.Ajax turned him down as we had Veltman. Had he spent 2 years at Feyenoord and not Celtic he would still have ended up at Southampton.

Ajax linked with a move for Southampton playmaker, Tadic, I severely doubt he would want to return to the Eredivisie. Why bother when he is likely to get suitors from Spain, Germany and Italy, who can provide higher quality of football.

"If" Southampton don't get relegated, Tadic will likely stay. EPL teams have a lot of money to spend and Southampton have been pretty decent in recent years and have developed a number of very good players. It's too bad that they can't keep the young players.

Looks like Zakaria Labyad is coming to Ajax on a four year contract. It will be made official after the playoff between Utrecht and Heerenveen for the EL slot. The big question is WHY?????????????????????????????????????????

Agree what on earth are we buying Labyad for!! We have 100m in the bank and will soon sell 5 players and bring in another 150m.We need to buy some better quality players.

There are no outstanding players in Jong squad or the U19. We do have serious talent aged 15 and 16 ,if we can keep them.

Yes, he was all over the field yesterday in the match against Swansea. Southampton one and only need a draw on Sunday to stay up. As I noted previously, I think he stays at Southampton if they are not relegated. I think there will be other teams after him if not and he won't be coming to Amsterdam. He is much better than Labyad who couldn't make it at Fulham.

If it means rescuing the season I.e. going far in the CL and winning the Eredivisie, then hell yes! There is a sense of urgency at Ajax, and Dutch football in general

Labyad seems to be coming for 7m. Reading comments of fans on Ajax showtime ,many say its alot of money .Well we are asking 60m for an 18 year old who plays in the Dutch league.We want more than 30 m for Neres a good player but untested outside the weak Dutch defenses.

Seems like Labyad can play in midfield or be used out left .He and Bande can be our left wings when the brat with the ego goes.

Seems like the Argentinian Magallan will be signed for 10m ,offer at the moment 9m . We still need another Cd if de Ligt goes and I still say we made a mistake letting Viergever go .

My hometown club, DC United, is about to spend a bunch of money to bring in over-the-hill Wayne Rooney. Everton are going to want a $17M transfer fee and Rooney wants a mult-year contract. If you think Ajax are stupid, my club does them one better!!

Agreed Labyad is just on the fringes. I am excited about Schuurs, but concerned about Bande, he is good against mediocre opposition, I am not sure if he can rise to occasions against quality oppositions, and like previous players in that position, he is an inverted winger.

It would be a good idea to send Johnsen to Heerenveen and let Bande go to Jong Ajax for his first season.
