Ajax Cape Town recently had the pleasure of hosting a high-powered delegation from its sister club, Ajax Amsterdam.
The visiting delegation included the Amsterdam club's CEO, Mr Maarten Fontein, Chief Financial Director Jeroen Slop and Technical Director Martin van Geel.
"The delegates were basically here as part of an annual arrangement we have with them, which involves visiting each other to discuss various aspects of running a football club in the culture and within the world famous model first implemented by the Armstedam-based team," 'Urban Warriors' coach Gordon Igesund told the Ajax official website.
The articulate coach was also quick to add that Van Geel expressed his delight at seeing the local club's youth development sides showing high levels of skill during their matches on Saturday.
"Martin was very impressed with the formations and enthusiasm displayed by the youth sides on Saturday. He saw how we have been implementing the attacking, and entertaining style of play that Ajax is internationally known for," said Igesund.
The three-time Castle Premiership-winning coach also revealed that he has been following the progress of the 'Warriors' Stanton Lewis and Grandwald Scott, both of whom have been on trial at the Amsterdam club.
"I have had good reports about their progress so far and this can only go to show that our relationship with Ajax Amsterdam is working very well.
"I wish both players the best of luck and hope they follow in the footsteps of Steven Pienaar.
"We are also looking at some of the Amsterdam players coming this way sometime, "Igesund concluded.
Klinkt positief, ook MVG lijkt onder de indruk..
