10 Feb 2008: Roda JC - Ajax

I still believe that the season is already dead, but here we go: the next one...

We have a string of very tough away games coming up (Roda, NAC, PSV, Twente, Heerenveen and Groningen, in that order), whereas almost all of our remaining home games are against the more modest sides: Sparta, Excelsior, Willem II, De Graafschap, Heracles.

Even if PSV do drop eight or nine points, there is no way we'll stay without damage. So, in practice, PSV will have to drop at least one point per game on average in the remainder of the season. Which I really don't think will happen. It happened last season, but they had Ronald Koeman at the time.

the title race is definitely over since p$v beat AZ in Alkmaar, and there is nothing else to be excited about than next season : which coach with which players ?

Defeat against Heerenveen and Ajax and the difference is all of the sudden only 2 points. I'm not really believing it myself but it's not all over yet.

In their current form even Heerenveen might still have a slight chance!

I dunno. Remember the choke job PSV did last year? There's no reason it can't happen again... I hope... :ajaxscarf.gif:

That's assuming we don't drop any points, which I can't see happening based on the inconsistent form we've had all year. You never know if the team is going to come out motivated and playing with passion (save the Feyenoord games pretty much this year) and how many goals they'll give up in the back because the defense was picking tulips.

Let's keep in mind that our away record is terrible. And we still have to go to Eindhoven, Heerenveen, Groningen, Twente and Roda. All in the top 7

Hopefully our defence must be stronger with Silva in and Vermaelen fit and Urby dropped(I like the lad but his defending this season has been abject)

we have to keep in mind that our goal now is to win the play-offs, therefore we have to be at our best for those particular games
all the rest is unimportant

No Suarez, Perez in his place in left wing, De Jong in center

Meaning no one is covering the left wing (perez likes to be the 'fox in the box') and on top of that, huge pressure on our rookie Siem de Jong

If they don't get a win out of this game -- and it doesn't seem promising from what I can see -- then it will be a huge hole to climb out of.
