By the way: I just read the match report of last year's pre-season friendly at HHC Hardenberg. I had forgotten about it, but they actually gave Ajax a really hard time. They took a 1-0 lead and held on to it until the 54th minute. Ajax turned it around, made it 1-2, and then scored three extra goals (that they hardly deserved) in the dying minutes.

HHC are amateurs, not pro's, but this will definitely be a more serious testcase than yesterday's De Lutte game.

Yep, it's 0-1. Beautiful goal by Manucharyan according to Ajax Netwerk.

But once again: HHC are not a bad side. The first three chances of the game were for them and immediately after Manu's goal they hit the underside of the cross-bar.

Yup. Nicolae Mitea went off with an injury that looked absolutely terrible. Everybody feared that he seriously tore his hamstring. Latest update, however, is that David Endt has said that it's not too bad after all...

It would be an absolute nightmare for the kid if he'll be out for a long time again... Let's hope for the best.

Photo report just appeared on Ajax.nl. It doesn't even mention Mitea's injury. If it were a very bad one that overshadows the whole game, it surely would have been mentioned. I think (and sure as hell hope...) that it's a false alarm...

Not quite. Highlow.nl have the scoop. they talked to Ajax physio Ricardo de Sanders after the game, who is quoted saying: "Something's torn in his upper leg, but we don't have the full picture yet. He could be out for two weeks, but it can be four or six, too."

That's sh*t, but still: not as bad as it initially seemed (for a minute I thought we were talking about months here).

He is a good striker

He missed an 100% scoring chance, due to his own fault. He wanted to make a 'Bergkamp' style goal, instead of just ramming the ball into a corner. Ten Cate imidiately took him off the pitch, saying that he has to score this kind of chances and not to screw it up. A learning moment for the young striker :yes:

It figures. Mitea ,of all players, goes thru hell to make it back . Was the responsible rockette ( one-two-three-KICK) a relative of Stijn Vreven ?

Just hope he's back by September. Get well soon Nicolae!! I've had the pleasure of talking with him twice . Really down-to-earth . He talked of things like walking thru the Ajax museum , club history , and how he loved being at Ajax on the occasions I've met him ; free day ,Ajax-USA 2004 trip and two days after the 2:2 v. Inter ; even though he was injured on the last occasion.

I bet there'll be no more mustard (Pass the grey Poepon) for the hot dog. Bet he slams the next one home without the ruffles and flourishes. I like HtC's style. Deliver the message so not only the player gets the point,but the entire squad .
