I just checked the home page of a site called Ajax Showtime. They list the in-progress score as 0:5; with three goals by Kenneth Perez,including a peno, and one each for Rydell Poepon and Tom de Mul .

This Poepon is good ...2 goals in 2 games that he played

Poepon scored a hat-trick .

Well it's great that we're playing so well (13) but I can't get too excited about notching up cricket scores against such lowly opposition.

I know that some of the top "amateur" teams are arguably better than some in the proffessional first division but I assume this lot are not in that category. I can't find them in my VI Seizoengids Topamateurs so I assume that they play at below Hoofdklasse level?

Anyway, the real test starts later.

Seriously, you can't argue with that sort of score, I'm just wondering how much it's actually worth as any sort of test (other than an excercise in increasing the player's self confidence which is no bad thing) that's all.

(and also what level the opposition play at)

it's not a test, it's just gettin the feeling after a summer break.

This one was a bit of a joke, really. Tomorrow's opponent (HHC) are Hoofdklasse. That game will be more meaningful.

Did Ajax really score 18 today?!

If so, I presume that means players spent more time taking the ball out of the back of the net than actually playing the game. Yikes.

Ko, you are right that 18-0 versus a vierdeklasser isn't that great. The only possible light I can see is in it is that we played against the same team a couple of years ago and then only won 10-0.

Ok, so that's why I couldn't find them. So we're talking level six, equivelent to Conference North or Conference South in England. Over here that level is fairly high profile/high standard - I don't think even Chelsea for example would win 18-0 against a Conference South team.

Anyway. Still can't argue with that score, thanks for the info Ko.
