02 Feb 2006: SC Heerenveen - Ajax
The last edition of Heerenveen vs Ajax is not that long ago (snowstorm, going 4-0 down and more fun stuff...), but it's already time for the next one, in the quarter final of the cup!
Will we make it to the semis?

Should be no problem! A little bird has told me that we'll win 3-0. Our goals will be scored by numbers 23, 14 and 9! Mind you, I've also been told that "We're going to win the title next year" BB @ 15:30 on 29/01/06.
It's just a game of lucky numbers, lads, or at least that's how it appears Mr Blind is putting the side out!
I'm betting on the team coach not even getting there!!! At least we can't lose!!

I am confident that we will win, Charisteas played well last game but he has not scored a goal after the winter break, Huntelaar has not scored a goal in Ajax yet. One of these players must score. Rosenberg will probably score as well, he gets praise from Henrik Larsson and journalists in the greatest sports paper in Sweden today. Furthermore, he proves once again that he is very popular among swedes in a reader vote in that paper, so I bet his self confidence will be on top.SaddlerIan schreef::headbang: :headbang:

GREAT! That means Rosenberg, Huntelaar and Charisteas will turn up... but who else is going to play? Three against eleven! It's just not fair!kaiser schreef: I am confident that we will win, Charisteas played well last game but he has not scored a goal after the winter break, Huntelaar has not scored a goal in Ajax yet. Playing in European competition......DREAM ON!

Judging by our recent performances, the only way we're going to play in Europe next season depends on Holland not sinking! If she stays on the map, we're in Europe!SwedishFan schreef:The cup should be taken very serious, we MUST play in Europe 2006-2007.

That is good news, indeed. Charisteas has played well lately, but he has not scored, so it is quite likely that Huntelaar will take his place, Blind has indicated that it might be the case. I think it is obvious that Charisteas must be on the bench. In 4-3-3 there is one striker and we have not bought a 9 million top-scorer to play were he is not suited to play. I do respect him and it is a pity that he is not good enough for the starting eleven but at the same time too good for the bench.philippe schreef:I was told that Hunterlaar and Charisteas seemed in great shape during the training yesterday.
Maybe we will win and forget about the ridiculous snowmen competition of our last visit.
By the way, you have not talked very much about Rosenberg lately, 7 goals in 9 games, what do you say about that? You will probably say that he is not a proper left-winger, but when will you say the first positive word about him. Just one word? Perhaps you still think that Yannis is a better player? Does not mean to offend you in any way, I am just curious. ;)

More good news: just before the transfer window closed Heerenveen landed Mark de Vries on loan. The guy's a Dutchman, but people hardly know him here because he spent almost his entire career in the U.K. Heerenveen got him on loan from Leicester City. Probably a good striker, but he arrived in Heerenveen yesterday evening and will not play against Ajax.
We will face a very different Heerenveen side tonight than we did in late December. At the time Samaras and Huntelaar were the big guys; now they're both gone, and their replacement won't play yet. I had a bad feeling about last weekend's Utrecht game and an even worse feeling about Sunday's Classic, but we have a chance tonight. I am not too pessimistic.

Think of Sunday. I'm sure that you said "4-0"! As long as they play by your "lucky" numbers, (23, 14 and 9), that means that either 3 of our players will score, or that you were enthralled with finding a solution to using all of them!Kowalczyk schreef: ..we have a chance tonight. Forecast: 3-0 (I also predict that Ajax will win the Champions League.....sometime!)

Possible line up according to a friend:
Stekelenburg
Heitinga-Grygera-Lindenbergh-Juanfran
Sneijder-Maduro-Emanuelson
Rosales-Huntelaar-Rosenberg

Heerenveen are certainly the better team ..... quicker in moving the ball around; more accurate with their passing and, as you pointed out Brian, they have had most of the pressure.SE6Ajacied schreef:2 great saves from Stekelenberg, 1 with his head!! They have had about 5 corners already!
