"Selectie Ajax betaalt kaartjes bekerduel"
meaning : players from the Ajax team purchase Dutch Cup game tickets for the fans ....
(all those who want more details may refer to any Dutch online news, De Telegraaf for instance ....sorry again but they don't report this on Le Monde, nor CNN)
pretty weird, but at least fans will save money ... :aai:

By the way: there are quite a few away games on Ajax's agenda in December and that's why the players decided to make a truly wonderful gesture. They will pay for the tickets to the away end for this game. Fans who make the combi trip to Eindhoven will only pay for the bus ride -- their match ticket will be paid by the squad. Let's say it's a Christmas gift from the team to the fans.

That's very nice, I must say.

They get paid enough already, but its the thought that counts I guess

Definitely a nice gesture. Credit to Ajax for doing something nice.

By the way: before we start regarding this fixture as an 'unimportant' one... The cup is probably the only piece of silverware we can still win this season, so we might as well seriously go for it...

Also: don't forget about Young Ajax, folks! They play Helmond Sport for the cup on Tuesday!

According to the EersteDivisie.info website Eindhoven vs Ajax will be shown live on ESPN in the United States... Can anyone check if that's true?

Sorry guy's false alarm here's the programing schedule for december 22

http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/sports/ ... a/New_York.

Checked Espn 2 and nothing there either.

By the way Espn international will be showing PSV-Twente on tuesday  .

Hmmm. The official Eindhoven website claims it will be on ESPN as well... Strange.

Anyway: Eindhoven's tiny little home ground (capacity: 4,500) is now completely sold out for this game. It will be shown live on SBS6 in The Netherlands (do you get SBS6, Manneken Pis...?).

Eindhoven played a home game in the league tonight and they lost to Haarlem, 2-4. So I guess we should be able to win this one, huh. :D

It is on ESPN Pacific Rim, however it is a delayed telecast:
22nd December:
Dutch Cup
FC Eindhoven vs. Ajax
Jan Louwers Stadium Eindhoven, Netherlands
Early Round

So luckily for the aussies, we can watch. Just have to try not to see the score before I watch the game.

Of all stadiums/matches, ESPN chooses the Jan Louwers stadium.

I expect a dull victory for Ajax. Ajax tries to relax, Eindhoven are, of course, motivated to da bone. 0-3, Rosenberg 2x and Sneijder.

Danny Blind told AT5 that he will take no risk with Zdenek Grygera (recovered from a concussion) and Urby Emanuelson (overtired). The two are back in training with the suqad, but they will see no more action until the winter break.

Blind underscored that Ajax will take the game at FC Eindhoven very seriously. "Obviously there's going to be a difference in quality, with - possibly - a different balance on the pitch as a result. But I will not field a different line-up."

In these cup games he should play reserve players, such as Lobont/Vonk, Escude, Lindenbergh etc.

Will we revert to the 4-3-3 since this is a "weak" team or will we keep the 4-4-2 system intact ??? I'ts going to be interesting to see.

I prefer 4-4-2...We are playing like that and is effective..so ,lets play like that

Marten
Heitinga /Gryg /Vermaelen /JuanFran
Maduro / Galasek / Sneijder / De jong
Rosenberg / Babel

I believe that they played in a 442 and for the last bit of the match they switched to a 433.

Easy win but why did they not stick to 442 and put Babel on instead of Rosales??

Good to see that Sarpong got some action , just hope he is not rushed too soon as he is only 17.

Easy one, this.

Match report will be published on Ajax USA tomorrow. Already up on the site: a news report about the quarter final draw. It's Heerenveen away for us. Could have been better...

Just watched the cup game on espn :
well it was a nice practice match. and the most important thing is 6 goals scored and no injuries gained. i am also happy to see blind sticking to the same players for a while ,this is giving the players confidense that they missed so far.Two great goals from sneider the seccond was a real screamer. rosenberg was weak and that is a shame,i hoped he'd score a hat-trick against such a weak apponent. But a good game overall.

A win and no injuries..all that matters heading into an important match on the 27th.
