The first 'serious testcase: Arminia Bielefeld, who are celebrating their centenary this year, are a top flight German Bundesliga side. Ajax will play them at the Schüco Arena.

If you live/happen to be in the area: tickets for the Ajax end will be available on game day at the stadium box offices!

That's a f#cking great result (and given the previous friendlies also a bit of a surprise). We're talking about a serious Bundesliga side here. According to Ajax Netwerk we outplayed them throughout and didn't allow them a single scoring chance. Very good. This is a promising one.

With the Amsterdam Tournament less than one week away, Ajax couldn't have picked a better time to play so well. Double thumbs up! Hope this result will have a carry-over effect.Question, is Escude` injured or is his DNP just a coaches decision?

Escude was slightly, and thus given some time to kick back from Blind.

They're in the 1. Bundesliga (top flight) and finished 13th last season. They were a bit higher on the table for most of the season (10th, 11th), but started losing towards the end. But they never were in relegation trouble.

Which means we're talking about the German equivalent of FC Groningen or Willem II if you look at the table, but given the fact that the Bundesliga is a bigger and stronger league than the Eredivisie it's fair to say that Bielefeld are better than that.

Which makes them seriously competitive opposition. No doubt about that.

By the way, folks: match report is up on Ajax USA!
