Oh yeah - and perhaps it's also time to look forward to the 'Game of the Century': Ajax vs the Ghanese national team (including Obodai and Yakubu, probably).

Read all about it here:

Question to the locals: will anyone take the afternoon off to go to this fixture?

I kind of feel like it (haven't seen a game at De Toekomst yet this season - and it sure is a nice one), but on the other hand: Ajax already are a complete waste of time on Sundays, let alone on weekdays! Also: it's really f#cking cold...

:D

I guess everything helps...

Seriously though: the board backed him up when he was at war with Van Gaal. If they fire Koeman during the season, they basically admit that they've been wrong. If you drop your TD first, and then sack your head-coach a few months later... you really should resign also. And they know it. That's why they will not fire Koeman any time soon.

Not if we lose at NAC, for example. If the Auxerre home game also goes badly wrong - then the board might start panicking.

Wow - game must be 15 minutes underway by now, but there is not a single place on the internet where the score can be followed. Not on Ajax Netwerk (not even in a forum thread), not on Ajax.nl... I am not in touch with someone who's at the game. Nothing. It's a complete mystery.

All I can find is this match preview on GhanaWeb.com:

Result is on Ajax.nl now: 2-1 Ajax. Two goals by Rasmus Lindgren.

That's all we know at this point...

Isn't it time Lindgren got a game for the first team?

Yes. I think so.

He gets selected for almost every 'serious' friendly now (against professional opposition) and he keeps doing really well. Scored in the U.K., scored against Barcelona, scored against Ghana... Time for the next step: Eredivisie début.

We're missing two midfielders (VDV and Sneijder) on Sunday, so I guess this is the moment to give De Ridder and Lindgren a shot, the first as a starter, the latter as a sub!

Check the photo report on the Ajax Foto Side, including a couple of pictures of John O'Brien in action - with the captain's armband on one of 'em.
