02 MAR 2024; Almere City - Ajax; Match Day 24

Bericht door Orange14 » ma feb 24, 2025 10:23 pm

Almere City kicks off a somewhat difficult month for Ajax as there are two matches against Eintracht Frankfurt, and league games against PEC Zwolle, AZ, and PSV at the end of the month. Farioli will keep the team focused, that is for sure.
Appie Nouri will forever be remembered for his grace and humanity on and off the pitch!

Pasveer and Henderson doubtful but no flu anymore.

Ajax tried to get the Zwolle game postponed next week but Zwolle council said no, so turned down .Feyenoord and AZ get posp but they are only playing for 3rd place.PSV have to play. Not ideal but at least PSV play next week.

Anyway just get 3 points on Sunday and hope GAE help us v PSV. Not really interested in the others who are 14 points behind.

We did get some help from GAE.

So important to win this game but an 8 point lead isn’t decisive. We have PSV and AZ coming up and AZ have already beaten us twice this season.

If we are say 4 points or more ahead after those two games it would be hard for PSV to catch us.

Not a great performance by Ajax apart from the goal but at the end there Godts should have passed to Brobbey for 2-0.

Miserable game. Basically no one on either side has had even one good touch. A few of our players seem not fully fit to me.

Eintracht Frankfurt up in the Europa League on Thursday. It's safe to say that Ajax have to play better than they did today.

This was at 80% of full power. Almost cost us, but luckily Almere is nothing special as well.

Don’t really understand this attitude when you can go 8 points clear. But in the end they managed… so Farioli is right.

The one thing I was really surprised about was Brobbey not being subbed off at 60 minutes. Konadu might not have added much but then none of the starters were doing much either. It looked to me that after Taylor's goal, the team just lost interest. I wonder what Faroli said at halftime.

Agree Konadu should have come on .Brobbey is now the only fit striker ,no idea what we do if gets injured.

Back to the football that was one of the worst performances ever by an Ajax side.2 shots at goal, no corners ,2 other chances ie Godts just before Ht and Brobbey's cross which Berghuis did not connect were the only other acts of attacking football that might have been goals. This was pure Italian style football and I hate it ,we finished with 5 defenders and 3 DM holding on to a team bottom who will be playing Jong Ajax next season. Its not what Ajax stands for but after the last 2 years the fans will accept it this season as CL is just about certain for next season.

Farioli is doing a great job with a limited squad ,the rotating keeps player fitter better and we are mentally tougher and dont lose easily but next season the fans will demand Ajax football back. I have no problem with him but I want to watch free flowing quick passing football ironically yesterday we started with 7 from our youths system so cannot moan about a load of sub standard foreigners.

Some tough games to come and those 8 points can soon disappear but its great we are top and 3rd place miles behind.

I read that the playing surface was not good for quick passing. It looked fine on television. Was it that it was not watered prior to the match and at the half? It could have been that Almere City wanted a slow pitch.
