Home to Galatasary on Thursday and let's hope the match is better than the one against the Latvian champions. At least the playing surface will not be a factor!! There is not much to play for other than being the seeded team in the playoffs which might mean Ajax plays a weaker opponent. Galatasary gave up a two goal lead when they played Rigas and had to settle for a draw.

The game against Feyenoord is far more important .Win that and its really just Utrecht challenging us for 2nd ,the others out of sight.

I agree but it will be a bit of a wash as Feyenoord have a CL match this coming week as well.

Our strongest 11 out ie Berghuis on the bench. With talk of Henderson and Akpom going this could be there last game at the Arena. I want us to win tonight obviously but I want to see 3 points on Sunday a heck of a lot more.

Plenty of room on the counter but Taylor has no idea how to build an attack and Traoré just loses the ball every time. I think Galatasaray will score but Ajax could score more too.

A good 45 mins but we need 2 quality wingers. Godts hamstring again so Akpom wont now be sold unless we bring in both the GA Eagles Lad and Forbs.

Traore struggling with fitness so hope he is ok

Quite lucky really. No way they were going to keep a clean sheet given the amount of chances Galatasaray had, but a win in Europe is always a good result.

Good result,pity about the sloppy goal at the end but Gala had a few chances missed.We do indeed need a decent Rb signed up.

This will give us confidence again after last weeks shambles.

We are 12th but had we beaten Riga we would be 5th.AZ and Twente in top 24 so still in it

The late Galatasary goal on a scrambled ball off a corner kick was a bit disappointing but the 2-1 win was not. Ajax defended exceptionally well all match long against a club that came into the game as the top scoring team in the Europa League. In addition, they had not lost a match since the end of August when they were knocked out of the Champions League in a qualifying match. Sutalo is the MOTM for me. I don't think he put a foot wrong the whole game. His partners in the back line were also deserving of mention for good performances. Ajax should have done much better with two breakaways late in the 2nd half and gotten a third goal. We have to hope that Godts is OK after coming off in the 14th minute because of a leg problem. Both of the Ajax goals were well taken and Brobbey did exceptionally well on the first one by getting the ball to Akpom after being hitting the ground in Sanchez challenge. Ajax finish 12th in the League Round and it looks like the other two Dutch teams AZ and FC Twente also go to the playoffs. I wonder why Henderson was not wearing the armband.

Player Ratings:

Pasveer (7) - had one very hard save to make and did so but everything else was routine
Gaaei (7) - he had a solid match with several key challenges that he won, took a number of corner kicks with varying results
Sutalo (8) - like a rock, exceptional positional play and blocked a couple of shots
Baas (7) - pretty good play against Osihem who is one of the better strikers in Europe
Hato (7) - a weak pass to Pasveer which fortunately was not capitalized on was the only blot on his game
Henerson (6.5) - had some sloppy play in the first half but was better in the 2nd until he started experiencing a muscle problem that forced him to come out
Taylor (6.5) - pretty good game but a couple of his passes that could have created danger were poor
Fitz-Jim (7) - got the match winner off a save that came right to him, his passing was much better on the night
Traore (7) = had a much better match, good on the ball and his goal was nicely taken
Brobbey (6.5) - hold up play was very good and he had a couple of nice channel runs but did not get the ball
Godts (NR) - came off very early with a muscle problem
Akpom (7.5) - very strong on offense, his hard shot that was not parried to safety set up Fitz-Jim
Weghorst (5.5) - worked hard as always but did not get the ball in any position to score
Berghuis (5.5) - marginally above average is the best I can say
Mokio (NR) - on late and found himself deep in the offensive zone with the ball near the end
Rugani (NR) - had one good defensive play in the final part of the game

Feyenoord up on the weekend. They were humiliated in their CL match giving up three own goals. Don't think Godts will play and the smart choice would be to bring in Bounida as a sub to point out to him that he will get his chance at Ajax.

I thought he recovered pretty well most of the time and had a couple of good tackles.

He’s fast but his positioning isn’t great and good players don’t have any trouble dribbling round him.

I actually like him as a player- just not a great 1v1 defender imho.
