Out of the Beker with only the Eredivisie and Europa League to play for. This could be a tough fixture.

Thought they did ok for most of the first half against AZ, but it was game over the instant AZ’s first goal went in.

Only thing that matters now is finishing in the CL spots. It will be a struggle. If we hadn’t unexpectedly won against PSV and Feyenoord we would currently be fourth.

Ajax catch a break as Heerenveen had to play 120 minutes tonight and end up losing to Quick Boys in the Beker.

PSV have 70% possession and still lose to PEC Zwolle. Ajax can pull to within a point of the leaders with a win tomorrow.

AZ and Utrecht draw 0-0 which is also a good result.

Feyenoord drew also so we must win tomorrow. I have TrillerTv now ,official Uk streaming , however I will have to watch the final 30 mins on delay as I have granddaughter coming.

Twente lost so we now have to win to gain on PSV and the 4 teams below. Strongest side out ie Sutalo,F-Jim, Brobbey start , Klaassen Berghuis Weghorst on bench .Gaaei starts the only real weakness. If Hato or Brobbey get a yellow they miss Feyenoord.

Gaaei is really playing as a wide MF, which I don’t mind because he’s fast going forward and he has good cross.

They’re playing ok but they don’t create that many chances so they really can’t waste them like they did in that half. I would be taking Traoré off ASAP

Ajax were the only one of the top teams to not drop points on the week and are now within one point of PSV!! Who would have thought that this would happen? Very good first half by Ajax with great pressing and a nice goal by Sutalo off a corner kick. Godts, were it not for an offsides, would have drawn a penalty. The second half was drab as Ajax lost some of the pace the demonstrated in the first half but a late goal by Akpom and a nice save from Pasveer sealed the points. There were some entry passes that were just off otherwise Ajax would have been in much better attacking position. Even so, this was a much better performance with the ball than in past matches.

Player Ratings:

Pasveer (6.5) - didn't have anything to do in the first half as Heerenveen didn't have a single chance on goal, had more backpasses to deal with in the 2nd half but did no nicely
Gaaei (6) -had a couple of very good crosses but one of them was from a barely offsides position canceling out a Taylor goal
Sutalo (7) - got the match winner and defended well
Baas (6.5) - had one foolish pass but otherwise played well
Hato (6.5) - one cheap give away in an otherwise good game
Henderson (7.5) - MOTM for me with some great passing and kept the defense well organized
Taylor (7) - good game and unfortunate to have a goal called back, defended well
Fitz-Jim (6.5) - really helped out on the press and his ball handling was more than decent
Traore (6.5) - some poor decision making at times but did well pressing
Brobbey (6.5) - did everything but score with some excellent interior passing in the box
Godts (6.5) - decent enough match
Davy One Goal (5.5) - looked very slow but his ball handling errors were minimal
Berghuis (5.5) - some lively play and got to the goal line for some crosses on two occasions
Akpom (6) - clinched the win with a nice goal and his play on the ball was decent
Weghorst (5.5) - had a couple of half chances on headers
Rensch (NR) - on very late in what might have been his last Ajax match

No match next weekend as the Dutch FA are giving all the team in Euro competition the weekend off to prepare for the final match. Ajax have a trip to Latvia to take on Rigas in the penultimate Europa League match.

Watched for over 70 mins before my little visitor arrived .Kept an eye on the rest of the game and hugh relief when we scored the 2nd. VAR is a joke with 2 offsides , one Godts shoulder and head offside and Gaaei's leg.Offside should be for the whole body.

Anyway a great weekend with every one else dropping points and we are now 1 point off the top but
another left winger and creative Mf are badly needed. F-Jim did ok worked hard but Klaassen was poor.
