AZ form has not been great this season but they are at home and always play Ajax tough.

Godts expected to be back and potentially also Rensch.

Only Rensch still injured ,Godts sub . Henderson ,Fitz-Jim and Traore all subs . MF is v d Boomen,Klaassen and Taylor with the attack Berghuis,Weghorst and Akpom . Not very impressed but unlike Utrecht hope the subs come on and improve the game.

A poor half just hope for a draw.

A poor game but Godts being fit is a plus. Comments on Showtime all want Farioli out which is crazy .We are still 2nd and surely we can beat Sparta and Almere. Feyenoord have to play at PSV so we should stay ahead of them .Utrecht have 3 easy games but maybe will drop points .We will,at worse be 2 or 3 points off 2nd and we just have to get another winger and some creative quality in MF.

We only have about 15 adequate players so Farioli has to change our lineups.

Another mediocre performance by Ajax and the score line could have been worse given the two shots by van Bommel that hit the upright. I don't know the full extent of fitness of some of Farioli's players and maybe that's why he put out the team he did and had them play very conservative football in the first half. The only excitement came in the final 15 minutes when Brobbey, Traore, and Godts came on did Ajax look at all threatening. The second AZ goal was a complete mental lapse!!! Both Gaaei and Baas are right next to Lahdo and both run away from him giving the AZ player a free header!!!! Just awful. I also do not think the match official was particulary good. He let a lot stuff go on that should have been called as fouls

I've noted before that the sheer number of matches Ajax have played since August have caught up to them and they just need to scrape by into the winter break. If they don't have a fully fit team on Thursday, I cannot see them doing much at home against Lazio.

Player Ratings:

Pasveer (5.5) - not an especially good game with some slopping kicking
Gaaei (4.5) - crosses were awful and he still cannot defend
Sutalo (6) - should have been tighter on Parrot to stand any chance of defending against the first goal but he was pretty much marooned with no help at all but otherwise solid
Baas (5) - his passes are way too weak and easily dealt with
Hato (5.5) - little involved and seemed lost at times
van den Boomen (4) - really awful with zero mobility and cannot defend at all; Mokio probably would have done better
Taylor (5.5) - worked really hard but with two awful players next to him, not much can be expected
Davy One Goal (4) - any hope about him staying longer than this season were easily dispelled in this game, horrible passing and not much defending
Berghuis (4.5) - zero impact on the match
Weghorst (5) - good attempt on goal but needs to know you cannot use your hand
Akpom (5)- maybe time to move him in January for the right price as he is not a winger
Brobbey (5.5) - had a goal called back on a shove to the defender
Traore (5) - saw a fair amount of the ball but did not do much with it
Fitz-Jim (5.5)- a welcome relief from Klaassen
Godts (6) - too bad he was not fully fit as he would have posed trouble for AZ
Rasmussen (NR) - on late

Lazio in Amsterdam on Thursday night followed by Almere City next weekend

This is just stupid!!! By the same measure, Man City should sack Guardiola and Madrid should sack Ancelotti.

As Klaassen cannot play v Lazio he gets to start when he should just be a sub.Traore can only play an hour. V D Boomen is aweful and I agree with Oranje that Mokio would have been better. Steur would have done better than Klaassen and I am being serious. Mokio and Steur both good enough for Jong and they are both 16. Taylor,Fitz-Jim and Henderson are our best 3 with Klaassen as sub.

Only player that really makes me see red is Berghuis, he is past it and should go next month.Talk of a 2 year agreement is beyond belief.

Not a disaster, we can afford a loss or two away from home to teams in the top half of the table.

Having said that it was another poor game and I almost switched off at ht. Not a lot to enjoy with Carthorse, oops I mean Weghorst, and the worst Ajax midfield I can remember playing.

Reading reports today on Showtime but what was overlooked yesterday was our defending was schoolboy standard on both goals. AZ's 1st the right winger gets the ball unmarked as the left back not doing his job and puts the ball into the centre where the goalscorer is unmarked with a defender the wrong side of him.

2nd goal yesterday Pasveer standing at the front flapps and misses but the goalscorer is just standing in the goal area unmarked.

So whose fault in my eyes for yesterdays defeat Sutalo and Baas as both failed to prevent the goals.Maybe we should be resting them and Rugani and Kaplan played. Hato should be LCD but our only LB Wijndal is woeful .

We may have had no winger until Godts on 80 mins , MF probably one of the weakest ever but when defenders cannot mark players in the box and give away easy goals we have no hope.

It goes to prove how valuable Henderson is to the club. van den Boomen offers no help at all defensively. Farioli has definitely improved the defense in that we don't give up ridiculous counter attacking goals for the most part. When I looked at the defending on the second AZ goal, it was just awful. Both Gaaei and Baas were close to Lahdo but neither did anything to mark him. I wonder if Pasveer's lack of athleticism is a detriment.

Watched the highlights again regards the Brobbey no goal .Ref blew the whistle before the ball entered the net so no VAR . Brobbey made no foul and we were denied a goal and a point.Even one of the top refs said he would have blown the whistle after the ball entered the net and VAR could then decide, he thought no foul and a perfect goal.

A bit late now but with all the VAR on goals the ref's mistake has cost us.

Nagtegaal has surpassed Higler as my least favourite Eredivisie ref. He consistently lets defenders hack away at Brobbey and more often calls a foul against Brobbey. It’s not the first game this season where he has done this.
