Happy 2022 to everyone!!! We were especially busy over the holiday break moving into our new condo from our home of 35 years. It was time to downsize and live on one floor!!! Everything is finally unpacked and only a few pictures remain to be hung.

Ajax had a Covid-shortened training program over the break and the scheduled friendly was cancelled. Ajax travel to Utrecht this Sunday for an always tough match. Haller and Onana are missing at the African Cup of Nations. Will Brobbey or Danilo get the start up front? I hope that Ajax don't lose any players to Covid quarantine.

tough game to start the new year. ihattaren joined utrecht but not sure he’ll be playing yet.

Our old house goes on the market in about 10 days. Of course you would have to relocate down to Bethesda. It's within walking distance of the DC Metro!

Good morning all, a must win game but we are at full strength except Brobbey for Haller.

That's the way to start a game!

I expect good things in the second half of this season in the eredivisie. Don’t think PSV or Feyenoord have squads anywhere near as good as Ajax.

A great 45 mins and just as Utrecht looked a bit threatning around the 40 min plus mark Brobbey finished the game .A wonderful return by Brobbey .

I thought there was going to be a position shuffle when Brobbey came off, but Klaassen is actually playing CF. Seems a bit rude in a competitive match!

A very comfortable 90 mins for Ajax,dominated the game but the 3rd just before Ht finished the game. It was a training game for us in the 2nd half and we used 5 subs including league debut for 17 year old Amorouchio Van Axel Dongen- a fantastic name and he has a bright future.He made it 8 out 16 players used from our youth with Setford and Rensch unused.So much for some fans moaning ETH ignores youth.

A cup match midweek,where we can play the spare players ,and then PSV where we must make sure we dont lose.

An easy win over Utrecht with all three goals coming in the first half. The second half was a bit of a snooze with Ajax really not getting much in the way of a chance on goal and Utrecht managing only one weak shot on frame that was easily saved by Pasveer. van Axel Dongen came on late for his league debut.

Player Ratings:

Pasveer (6) - really had nothing to do but look at a handful of shots that were way wide of the goal
Blind (6.5) - enterprising as always with some good passing but had little to defend against
Martinez (6.5) - good to see him recovered from the hamstring problem and he had a decent match
Timber (7) - solid game and good on the ball
Mazraoui (7) - had some good runs up the flank but Ajax really need to sign him to an extension
Alvarez (6) - decent enough but little bothered in the MF by Utrecht
Gravenberch (7) - very good in the first half pushing up the field
Berghuis (6.5) - solid match
Tadich (6.5) - good match from the Captain
Brobbey (7.5) - two well taken goals and very quick on the press
Antony (7) - got the opener and match winner
Taylor (6) - solid in a substitute role
Klaassen (5.5) - came in to lead the line but had little impact
Schuurs (6) - decent in a sub role for Martinez
van Axel Dongen (NR)

Cup match coming up on Thursday against lower division Excelsior Maassluis with an away game at PSV next Sunday.

Ajax played the first 30 or so minutes exactly the way I have wanted them to all season long. Fast forward movement, accurate incisive passing. After that, they reverted back to their futzing around style - which was a bit of a disappointment, but good enough for them to finish out the game with no real danger coming from the opposition. Brobby looked really good - strong on the ball and making good on his chances - I wonder what the situation will be when Haller returns.

ha, I’d love to get out of Manhattan and be closer to the fda but my fiancé won’t have any of that unfortunately so stuck here for now…
