After a dispiriting but not unexpected nil draw away to Heracles, Ajax journey to Dortmund for a Wednesday match with the injury riddled home side. A win would send Ajax through to the group stage and potentially lock up the top spot in the group. Dortmund will be without Haaland, Emre Can, Mahoud, and Gio Reyna. Despite all the missing players, Dortmund are second in the Bundesliga behind Bayern. I think this game will be much tighter than the home match.

VAR penalty - ref is never going to call that, but it was a foul, and once they’ve seen it it has to be given.

Ajax midfield is completely out of the game. Will have to change something to turn this around.

besiktas is becoming the lille from 2 years ago. sporting is beating them 2-0 at the moment. we must at least get a point today or I can foresee a scenario where 3 teams end up in double digit points and we lose out.

I too wondered why it was a penalty but commentator explained it and VAR had a good look. Not sure it was a red card but all to play for.
MF doing nothing and with Alvarez booked and will miss the next game should we sub him!

I’m think if we beat Besiktas we will go through, unless we lose by a big margin in this game or against Sporting. But I’m not 100% sure on what the tiebreakers in the CL are, now that there are no away goals.

We were terrible for most of this game - I would’ve been delighted with a point after the first 60 minutes. But as you say we don’t care! I think we are guaranteed to finish 1st now?
