Ajax journey to Eindhoven and a possibly pock-marked pitch after last night EL match that PSV lost in the rain. Ajax have a six point lead and a game in hand on the 2nd place team and already knocked them out of the Beker competition. A win on Sunday will put even more distance between the two teams. The schedule still shows no mercy to Ajax who have two games a week with a Cup tie against Heerenveen and then EL games against Young boys. I've seen no word about Mazraoui and Tagiiafico who were out injured yesterday.

Rumours of Blind being unavailable for this Sunday's game. I suppose we can have Klaiber play RB and Rensch at LB.

We'll have Haller back, so can give one of Tadic/Neres/Antony a rest.

If Blind isn't fit for the game, can play Schuurs with Martinez, with Rensch and J.Timber at the left and right back respectively.

Wow!! Talking about a B Team defense...

At this moment, I'd rather play Klaiber and Rensch at RB/LB and continue with Timber and Martinez as the CBs. Alvarez and Gravenberch in front of them.

They are going to have real problems with Haller

Blind and Tagliafico both still doubtful. i would have Rensch at LB with Timber RB and Schuurs with Martinez

I have not seen much about Mazraoui's injury. they said it was some kind of eye problem and he got hit by a ball two weeks ago. I wonder if it was not a concussion of some kind.

Will miss the game tomorrow as it is at the same time as my weekly pickup squash games. Will try and follow the result, but am expecting a small Ajax victory.

Blind is fit and will be LB. Haller for Neres the only change from Lille starting line up. On the subs bench Quinten Timber is included for the first time.He can play RB and MF

First time in a while that I can remember Ajax conceding a goal on a free kick. Blind was at fault for being on the wrong side of Zahavi who had an easy pass to Malen and Alvarez caught him on the foot for the foul. Ajax have had the better chances but could not get a good shot off. I'll settle for a draw.

could have scored two if we had put a few passes together. again bunch of giveaways by sloppy passing cost us momentum

what a great ending to a shitty game. psv have a second goal disallowed, steks makes a great save, and then dumfries handles it in the 91st minute and tadic converts

I am drained after watching that . When they scored their 2nd I thought that was it and I could not complain about losing .I dont think we would have scored from open play if we played another hour but when Tadic took the pen I had every finger crossed and held my breath.
Dumfries should have got a red card at the end.

We are still 6 points ahead of them with a game in hand and are still clear favourites over them.We will still drop some points but so will they.

A late penalty call on a hand ball in the box gave Ajax a way out of a possible loss in Eindhoven. The draw was a fair result as it always looked like it would be a messy game on a pock marked pitch. Ajax were very sloppy with poor passing and give aways when players were challenged. There was some very good play in the opening quarter hour but Ajax could not get the needed goal. Stekelenburg has lost quickness but made a great save on a free kick to keep Ajax in the match, for that he is my MOTM

Player Ratings:

Stekelenburg (7) - the wall on the goal scoring free kick didn't do him any favors but he was alert for all the other opportunities as the defense let him down several times
Blind (6) - at fault for the goal as he didn't mark Zhavi allowing for a quick pass and then a foul on Malen
Martinez (6.5) - very consistent on defense
Timber (6.5) - great run in the first half but the ball bounced up on him when he tried to shoot
Rensch (5.5) - above average in the half he played
Alvarez (6) - had some interventions but came off for a more attacking option
Gravenberch (6) - struggled to make an impact
Klassen (6.5) - industrious again but as with others had some poor touches
Tadic (7) - Captain Kool on the PK that evened the score
Haller (6) - worked hard and had a good opportunity with a header that just wasn't directed properly
Antony (6) - good on the ball but constantly double teamed
Schuurs (6.5) - solid half of football with good ball control
Kudus (5) - I hope his mediocre performance is just a result of a lack of match play; really had too many turnovers
Neres (5.5) - really did not put a stamp on the match
Brobbey (NR) - played the final 10 minutes

Lead stays at 6 points with a match in hand. Cup semifinal against Heerenveen coming up mid-week. Will there be some squad rotation? Scherpen should get a start in goal.

That was exciting to watch, non Dutch football fans are curious, as to how Ajax salvaged a draw and cruised past Lille, while PSV got knocked out by the minnows from Greece, Olympiakos.

We did what we could on that cabbage field. I was not that fussed about losing 1-0 so a 1-1 draw is a big bonus. Feel a bit bad for PSV as we are obviously a better side right now.
